Quantitation of chlordiazepoxide and its metabolites in biological fluids by thin-layer chromatography.

Chlordiazepoxide and its 4 major metabolites were assayed after separation by thin-layer chromatography following extraction from biological fluids. The compounds become intensely fluorescent in the presence of red, fuming nitric acid. The resulting compounds are quantitated with a spectrodensitometer with a fluorescent attachment. The sensitivity varies between 0.05 and 0.1 microgram. The coefficient of variation is 1.4% for assays in urine and 6.4% in serum.     

Magnetic effect on instability and nonlinear stability in a reacting fluid

We study the problem of convective movement of a reacting solute in a viscous incompressible fluid occupying a plane layer and subjected to a vertical magnetic field. The thresholds for linear instability are found and compared to those derived by a global nonlinear energy stability analysis.     

Chemical convective instability and quasi-equilibrium thermodynamics

Summary A nonlinear stability analysis is described for the Bénard problem for a chemically reacting fluid heated from above; the findings are compared with those of Wollkind & Frisch. Next an energy stability analysis is given for the model of Wollkind & Frisch and it is shown that instabilities may occur.

Successivamente si elabora un'analisi non lineare della stabilità proprio per il modello di Wollkind & Frisch e si mostra che si possono presentare delle instabilità.
