Non-Direct Sequence Ions in the Tandem Mass Spectrometry of Protonated Peptide Amides—an Energy-Resolved Study

The fragmentation reactions of the MH⁺ ions of Leu-enkephalin amide and a variety of heptapeptide amides have been studied in detail as a function of collision energy using a QqToF beam type mass spectrometer. The initial fragmentation of the protonated amides involves primarily formation of b_n ions, including significant loss of NH₃ from the MH⁺ ions. Further fragmentation of these b_n ions occurs following macrocyclization/ring opening leading in many cases to b_n ions with permuted sequences and, thus, to formation of non-direct sequence ions. The importance of these non-direct sequence ions increases markedly with increasing collision energy, making peptide sequence determination difficult, if not impossible, at higher collision energies.

Two valued measure and some new double sequence spaces in 2-normed spaces

The purpose of this paper is to introduce some new generalized double difference sequence spaces using summability with respect to a two valued measure and an Orlicz function in 2-normed spaces which have unique non-linear structure and to examine some of their properties. This approach has not been used in any context before.

Synthesis, spectroscopy, and characterization of some bis-nicotinamide metal(II) dihalide complexes

We report synthesis of six new bis-nicotinamide metal(II) dihalide complexes [M(nia)(2)Cl(2); M = Mn, Co; nia:nicotinamide, M(nia)(2)Br(2); M = Mn, Hg; M(nia)(2)I(2); M = Cd, Cu], and their characterization by combining infrared spectroscopy with density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Infrared spectra indicate that ring-nitrogen is the active donor cite, and the atomic structure of the complexes is determined to be polymeric octahedral or distorted polymeric octahedral. Spin polarized electronic ground state is obtained for Mn, Co, and Cu halide complexes. The colors of the complexes also support the conclusion of octahedral coordination around the metal atoms, in agreement with DFT results.
