Substitution of calcium by strontium within selected calcium phosphates

Sr incorporation in the molecules of amorphous calcium phosphate, apatitic tricalcium phosphate, hydroxyapatite, octacalcium phosphate and dicalcium phosphate dihydrate was investigated. The concentration of Sr ranged from 225 to 1010 μ g / g, i.e. it overlapped with the physiological range of Sr concentrations in human bone. The leading experimental technique was extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) at the Sr K edge. Results of these studies demonstrated the following: (1) Sr incorporation in the calcium phosphates is compound-dependent, (2) the coordination of incorporated Sr atoms in the Ca-P molecules is similar to that of Ca atoms, but interatomic distances are ≈0.015 nm larger, (3) in apatitic tricalcium phosphate, hydroxyapatite and octacalcium phosphate lattices Sr atoms may occupy selected Ca sites, which was not the case for dicalcium phosphate dihydrate, (4) in the apatite lattice Sr atoms are coordinated by 6 PO₄ tetrahedrals and (5) EXAFS spectra at the K edge of the incorporated Sr may be used to distinguish the structures of amorphous calcium phosphate, dicalcium phosphate dihydrate as well as apatite and its derivatives (apatitic tricalcium phosphate, octacalcium phosphate).     

Synthesis of 3‐Ω‐amino‐2‐thiohydantoins

In the reaction of ethyl isothiocyanatoacetate with diamines, followed by cyclization of the intermediate product, 3‐monosubstituted thiohydantoins have been obtained. It was found that the reaction course depends on the purity of the isothiocyanate used and also, in the case of dialkylaminoamines, the self‐cyclization occurs. Besides the dialkylamino derivatives of 3‐monosubstituted 2‐thiohydantoins also new monoalkylamino, amino and heterocyclic derivatives were synthesized. The aryldiazonium derivative of 3‐monosubstituted 2‐thiohydantoin yielded both respective phenol derivative after hydrolysis and the product of coupling with 2‐naphthol.     

Frictional Phenomena in Dynamical Systemwith Two-Frequency Excitation

The paper deals with investigation of a self-excited vibrating system with dry friction. The system is composed of a mass connected by viscoelastic element with the referring frame and interacting with a moving belt by means of dry friction. An experimentally identified, multi-parametric dry friction model for the pair composed of soft and hard elements like steel–polyester pair, describing both the case of stick-slip and quasi-harmonic vibration, has been applied. Additionally, the system is influenced by external, two-frequency kinematic excitation. The results of computer simulation for different excitation conditions are submitted in the present paper.     

Synthesis of 3‐Ω‐aminohydantoins

Several 3‐Ω‐amino monosubstituted hydantoins have been obtained in the reaction of isocyanate of glycine ethyl ester with the appropriate aliphatic or aromatic diamine. It was found, that the 3‐(aminoaryl) monosubstituted hydantoins may be diazotized and their diazonium salts may be coupled and hydrolysed without changes in the hydantoin ring.
