Screw dislocation in spherical particle

The elastic fields generated by a straight-line screw dislocation axially arranged in a spherical particle have been calculated and analyzed. Some features of the distribution of elastic fields in this case and in the case of a screw dislocation lying along the axis of a cylindrical whisker are similar. The elastic energies per unit dislocation length differ slightly in the two cases. This corroborates the validity of application of some of the results obtained for screw dislocations in elastic cylinders to the study of properties of screw dislocations in equiaxed particles.Authors are very indebted to dr. Manicoline B, isolated from the root bark of $\text{Dulacia guianensis}$ (Olacaceae), was shown by X-ray analysis to be an equimolecular mixture of two diastereoisomers of a new alkaloid and to have structure (3).

The structure of 15-O-benzoyl-brucein D, a new quassinoid isolated from $\text{Soulamea amara}$ Lam., has been established from spectral data and by single-crystal X-ray analysis ; the previously known picrasin B, isobrucein A and B were also isolated.

Spatial resolution limitation in Auger microanalysis of compounds

The width of the resolved gap between the features of Auger images was calculated by Rayleigh criterion. When the threshold contrast is provided, this width is almost independent of the examined specimen nature and is defined only by probing electron beam diameter. The relation between the irradiation dose, contrast and spatial resolution is deduced. The flexible dependence allowing to evaluate both the real and maximum attainable spatial resolution of Auger images is obtained.
