Development in Synthesis,Electrochemistry, LB Moieties of Phenothiazine Based Units

A convenient and higher yielding synthetic route to N‐alkyl‐bis(thiophene)phenothiazine derivatives is reported and their aggregation, electrochemical properties and polymerization are characterized. The key step in the synthesis of this group of compounds has been the Stille type coupling reaction between the N‐alkyldibromophenothiazine and tin derivatives of thiophene as the best way for preparation of conjugated N‐alkylphenothiazine derivatives. For this group of compounds we also present an electrochemical polymerization effect and widely adopted approach to prepare structurally ordered thin, electroconducting films by Langmuir–Blodgett technique.     

On L2-cohomology and Property (T) for Automorphism Groups of Polyhedral Cell Complexes

We present an update of Garland's work on the cohomology of certain groups, construct a class of groups many of which satisfy Kazhdan's Property (T) and show that properly discontinuous and cocompact groups of automorphisms of (4,4) or (6,3)-complexes do not satisfy Property (T). Chiroptical properties of steroid 1,3-diaxial diols in the presence of [Mo2(OAc)4]

Summary Bidentate complexes of dimolybdenum tetraacetate with 1,3-diaxial diols show Cotton effects around 490–540 nm (CD band I), 400–440 nm (II), 350–380 nm (III), 320 nm (IV) and 280 nm (V). The sign of the Cotton effect II can be predicted by a proposed sector rule. It seems that from the Cotton effects for cyclic 1,3-diols the absolute configurations or conformations can be obtained.A part of this material was presented at III-rd International Conference on CD Spectroscopy [1]     

Metallofullerenes

Summary Endohedral and exohedral metallofullerenes, including metal-doped fullerenes, organometallic fullerenes and fullerene metal complexes, are described in the context of their syntheses and properties.     

A new phase in the Ag−O−S system

The investigations of reaction between Ag₂SO₄ and Ag₂S in air atmosphere have been carried. Results of DTA and X-ray phase powder diffraction of a reaction mixture have confirmed that in the Ag?O?S system exists a new phase. A formula of the phase is Ag₂SO₂.     

Syntheses, geometry optimization, and electronic structure of N-and C-substituted benzonaphthyridines

Synthesis of N-and C-substituted derivatives of benzo[h][1,6]naphthyridine, bearing 2-hydroxyethyl group has been made by quaternization reaction and by condensation of corresponding methylbenzonaphthyridines with formaldehyde. For six derivatives of isomeric benzo[c][1,5]-, benzo[h][1,6]-, and benzo[f][1,7]naphthyridines the ¹³C NMR spectra are discussed. For ten compounds the geometry was optimized with the AM1 and, in one case also with the ab initio 6–31G method; their effective charge values have also been calculated.     

Substitution of phosphine in the complex [RhCl(cyclooctadiene)(phosphine)] by 1-hexene

Summary The substitution of phosphine in the [RhCl(COD)(phosphine)] complex (1), where phosphine is PPh₃ or 1/2 BPS-2 [bis(diphenylphosphinoethyl)tetramethyldisiloxane] and COD is cycloocta-1,5-diene, by 1-hexene is a two-step reversible reaction. All individual rate constants and equilibrium constants were determined spectrophotometrically and associative mechanism occurring via the formation of five-coordinated [RhCl(COD)(phosphine)(1-hexene)] (2) was inferred. The rate-determining step changes from the first- to the second-one as the concentration of 1-hexene increases. An excess of phosphine shifts the equilibrium towards complex (2).     

Differentiable circle maps with a flat interval

We study weakly order preserving circle maps with a flat interval, which are differentiable even on the boundary of the flat interval. We obtain estimates on the Lebesgue measure and the Hausdorff dimension of the non-wandering set. Also, a sharp transition is found from degenerate geometry to bounded geometry, depending on the degree of the singularities at the boundary of the flat interval.Partially supported by KBN grant Iteracje i Fraktale #210909101.     

Synthesis and human leukocyte elastase inhibitory activity of novel 2-spiro(2′,2′-diphenylcyclopropane) cephalosporin sulfones

Precipitation polymerization of aniline in the presence of water‐soluble organic acids

The precipitation polymerization of aniline in the presence of organic acids, including toluene‐4‐sulfonic acid, phenylphosphonic acid, 4‐aminophenylphosphonic acid, and acetophosphonic acid, led in one step to conductive polyaniline. The polyaniline showed very good affinity for water and was easily modified to be water‐soluble. In comparison with the widely studied postpolymerization of doped polyaniline, this reaction allowed reasonably good conductivity to be achieved at a lower acid/polyaniline ratio. Moreover, the easy in situ incorporation of the dopant into the polymer structure caused high stability of the created salt; that is, no dedoping was observed after it was washed with water, methanol, or other solvents. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
