Possibility of observing chiral-symmetry effects in ferromagnetic nanoparticles

The statistics of left-and right-handed vortical magnetization states in a system of submicron-sized ferromagnetic disks is studied experimentally. Lattices of elliptic cobalt particles with a planar size of 750 × 450 nm and a thickness of 25 nm were formed using high-resolution electronic lithography. To visualize the magnetization distributions in the disks, magnetic force microscopy was used. The experimental results indicate the conservation of magnetic chiral symmetry in cobalt ferromagnetic particles of the above size and shape.     

Mass spectrometric study of 4-azafluorenes

The dissociative ionization of 4-azafluorene and its methyl and phenyl derivatives was investigated. The relative intensity of the [M — CH₃]⁺ ion peak depends on the position of the CH₃ group in the 4-azafluorene ring. It was established that the loss of an RCN particle (R=H, CH₃, and C₆H₅) for unsubstituted 4-azafluorene takes place from the M⁺ and [M — H]⁺ ion, exclusively from the [M — H]⁺ ion for the methyl-substituted compounds, and from the [M — H]⁺ and [H — 2H]⁺ fragments for the phenyl-substituted derivatives. Triterpenoids from Abies species

From an acid fraction of an ethereal extract of Siberian fir needles two new stereoisomeric acids, the molecules of which have a modified lanostane carbon skeleton, have been isolated in the form of methyl esters. The phenylation of 3βpicoline. Isolation and establishment of the structure of β-pyridyl-α-dehydropiperidine

It was established that the side product that is formed in substantial amounts in the phenylation of -picoline by phenyllithium is 3-methyl-2-phenyl-5-(3-methyl-2-phenyl-3,4-dehydropiperidyl-6)pyridine — a structural analog of anabasine. The ESIS-RFQ channel versions: Advantages and disadvantages

The results of a numerical simulation of Au ion-beam transportation from an ESIS source to the beginning of the linear accelerator (radio frequency quadrupole (RFQ)) are given. Features of two versions of the channel (without separation and with a separation of charges) are analyzed.     

Aging effect in proton-exchanged optical waveguides based on lithium niobate crystals

The optical characteristics of planar waveguides produced by proton exchange in lithium niobate crystals in different acids (with and without additives) are unstable with time (“aging” effect). The aging effects in LiNbO₃ optical waveguides are investigated at room and elevated (50, 60, or 70°C) temperatures. In all cases, variations in the refractive index of the waveguide layer with time, i.e., for two or three years at room temperature and for several weeks at elevated temperatures, are determined for waveguides prepared in different media. The dependences of the optical characteristics of waveguides on the nature of proton sources and the aging conditions are obtained experimentally.     

Synthesis of meso-tetraalkyltetrabenzoporphines

Stable complexes of zinc meso-tetralkyltetrabenzoporphines with tribenzylamine have been obtained by the template tetramerization of 3-R-methylenephthalimidines with zinc acetate in the presence of tribenzylamine or by the reaction of potassium phthalimide with the corresponding alkylmalonic acids.
