Studies aimed at the synthesis of morphine V an economic approach to (±)-reticuline from 3,4-dihydropapaverine

Regioselective demethylation of 3,4-dihydropapaveraldine ($\text{2}$a) at 7 and 3' positions affords a properly substituted diphenolic key intermidiate ($\text{2}$d) for the synthesis of reticuline and N-norreticuline.     

Structure of norbornene-fused 3,1-oxazine double cycloadducts

Pentacyclic isoxazolines were obtained by the cycloaddition of benzonitrile oxide to norbornene-azetidinone-fused 3,1-oxazines. The constitutions of two of the isomers obtained, and the configurations and conformations of all products, were determined by means of ¹H and ¹³C NMR spectroscopy and DNOE experiments.     

Steady-state analytical solutions for the lattice boltzmann equation

A general class of analytical solutions of the lattice Boltzmann equation is derived for two-dimensional, steady-state unidirectional flows. A subset of the solutions that verifies the corresponding Navier-Stokes equations is given. It is pointed out that this class includes, e.g., the Couette and the Poiseuille flow but not, e.g., the basic Kolmogorov flow. For steady-state non-unidirectional flows, first and second order solutions of the lattice Boltzmann equation are derived. Practical consequences of the analysis are mentioned. Differences between the technique applied here and those used in some earlier works are emphasized.     

Mass spectrometric study of some cycloalkane/ene-condensed 2-thioxo-2935556-pyrimidin-4(1H)-ones and cycloalkane/ene-condensed [l,3] thwzino [3,2-a]-pyrimidinones under electron impact

The mass spectra of four cycloalkane/ene cis- and trans-condensed 2-thioxo-2,3,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidin-4(1H)-ones and the corresponding cycloalkane/ene cis- and trans-condensed [l,3]thiazino[3,2-a]pyrimidinones were measured. Fragmentation pathways were confirmed by metastable ion analyses and exact mass measurements. The bicyclic isomers were easy to distinguish from each other, whereas the corresponding tricyclic isomeric adducts gave fairly similar mass spectra, owing to their favoured reiro-Diels- Alder fragmentations accompanied by the migration of one or two hydrogen atoms.

Synthesis,properties, and crystal structure of a novel 3-hydroxy-(4<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>)-benzopyran-4-one containing copper(II) complex,and its oxygenation and relevance to quercetinase

The preparation, spectroscopic properties, and crystal structure of [Cu(ind)(mco)] [ind is the anion of 1,3-bis(2-pyridylimino)isoindoline and mco is the anion of 3-hydroxy-(4H)-benzopyran-4-one] are reported. The complex exhibits a distorted square pyramidal geometry. The oxygenation of the title compound results in oxidative cleavage of the heterocyclic ring to give the (acetylsalicylato)copper(II) complex [Cu(asp)(ind)] (asp is the anion of acetylsalicylic acid) and CO as primary products, which reaction resembles the enzymatic reaction of quercetinase.
