Linear kinetic analysis of evaporation and condensation

The mixing model was used for analysis of linear kinetic problems of phase transition. The asymmetry of evaporation and condensation, which occurs for intensive processes, remains even for the case of linear approximation. The analytical solution for kinetic jumps of pressure and temperature at the condensed phase surface was obtained: it complies with the results of the classical linear theory. The key result of this study is analytical solution for dependency of pressure jump (condensation) on the temperature factor. This dependence has a minimum near the margin between the abnormal and normal regimes of condensation.     

Ethylene Polymerization in the Presence of Iron(II) 2,6-Bis(imine)pyridine Complex: Structures of Key Intermediates

The structures of intermediates generated by the activation of 2,6-bis[1-(2,6-dimethylphenylimino)ethyl]pyridineiron(II) chloride (1) with various cocatalysts, methylalumoxane (MAO), trimethylaluminum (TMA), and TMA in combination with B(C₆F₅)₃and Ph₃CB(C₆F₅)₄, is studied by ¹H and ²HNMR spectroscopy. The 1/AlMe₃system exhibits a higher catalytic activity in ethylene polymerization than the 1/MAO system. The activity of the latter decreases sharply with a decrease in the amount of AlMe₃in MAO. Neutral Fe(II) complexes rather than cationic intermediates are suggested to be active components in both catalytic systems.     

Dynamics of local density perturbation in stably stratified fluid: Results of numerical experiments

Linear and nonlinear numerical models of dynamics of local density perturbation in a stably stratified medium are constructed. The influence of viscosity on the process of generation and propagation of internal waves generated by the local density perturbation in a pycnocline is evaluated. The problem on the dynamics of local density perturbation in the presence of wave background is considered.     

The velocity of gas bubble rise in a tube

The solutions of the Laplace equation involving the diverging infinite series are used in the classical works at the analysis of the problem of the gravitational rise of a gas bubble in a tube filled with ideal fluid (the Taylor bubble). In the present work, an approximate method is proposed for a correct analysis of the above problem. The ideal fluid flow around a body of revolution in a tube is constructed by the method of the superposition of elementary solutions. The satisfaction of the free surface condition in the critical point neighborhood and the passage of the main parameter to the limit lead to the sought expression for the dimensionless velocity of the gas bubble — Froude number.     

Dichroism and birefringence of natural violet diamond crystals

Investigation of the optical properties of natural violet diamonds from the Yakutian kimberlites is performed. A red shift of the absorption edge is revealed in the absorption spectra of these crystals. This shift is indicative of the presence of a high concentration of nitrogen in the diamonds studied. Along with the strong band at 0.550 μm, weaker bands at 0.390, 0.456 and 0.496 μm are revealed. It is shown that violet diamond crystals have birefringence and dichroism of about 10^?5 and 10^?6, respectively. When a light beam propagates perpendicularly to colored lamellas, the dichroism is much larger and the birefringence is smaller than in the case where the beam direction is parallel to lamellas.     

Charged current neutrino interactions below 30 GeV

Charged current data of a spark chamber neutrino experiment at the 70 GeV Serpukhov accelerator (10 200 events in the v beam and 3600 events in the $\text{v}$ beam with energies up to 30 GeV) have been analyzed. Total neutrino and antineutrino cross sections and v-distributions are obtained.

Observation of muon pairs in neutrino interactions at Serpukhov 70 GeV accelarator

A search for dimuons produced in a spark chamber experiment in neutrino and antineutrino beams of the Serpukhov accelerator is reported. The clear dimuon signal has been observed in vN interactions. R_v = N(2ω)/N(1ω)? (6.2 ± 1.7) × 10^?3 in the energy interval 7.5 ÷ 30 GeV. From antineutrino data we conclude that in the same energy range $\text{R}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>v</mtext>}}\text{? 1.1. × 10}{}^{\mathrm{?2}}\text{(90\% C.L.)}$.
