Analysis of the structure of an amorphous sediment obtained upon decomposition of potassium oxofluroniobate in water

An amorphous sediment was prepared by the decomposition of potassium oxofluoroniobate K_{2 ? x} Nb₄O₃(O, F)₃F in water. For this sediment, the atomic radial distribution function was analyzed with the use of a fragment model, which allows one to interpret expanded coordination spheres as being formed by first several strongest diffusion maxima. These spheres carry the most reliable information on the structure. It is shown that the amorphous sediment consists of the randomly packed Nb(O,F)₆-octahedra with interatomic distances close to those observed in the ordered region in the N-Nb₂O₅ structure. During decomposition in water, the initial K_{2 ? x} Nb₄O₃(O, F)₃F phase loses KF-layers, whereas Nb₆ clusters with metal bonds are destroyed.     

Associated φΛ0 production in the EXCHARM experiment

The features of the associated production of φ mesons with Λ⁰ hyperons in neutron-carbon interactions were investigated. The experiment was performed with the aid of the EXCHARM spectrometer at the Serpukhov accelerator in a neutron beam of energy in the interval 20–70 GeV. The differential cross section for inclusive associated φΛ⁰ production was measured.     

Identification and quantitative determination of some inorganic lanthanide compounds by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy

Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy in the UV, visible, and near-IR regions is found to allow the detection and identification of lanthanide oxides, fluorides, sulfides, and sulfofluorides without decomposing and dissolving samples. A nondestructive method for the detection and quantitative determination of more than 1 wt % of Eu(II) in the corresponding fluorides is proposed.     

Chemistry of indole

5-Methoxy-3-carbethoxyindoles are nitrated primarily in the 4 position. Replacement of the methoxy group by an acetoxy group leads to a change in orientation — only the 6 isomer is obtained. In the case of the similarly constructed 5-hydroxyindoles, monosubstitution cannot be accomplished under various conditions, and only the 4,6-dinitro derivative is formed. Synthesis of conjugates of 2′,3′-dideoxynucleoside-5′-monophosphates with α-amino acids

Previously undescribed conjugates of 2′,3′-dideoxyuridine-5′-monophosphate-(L)-methoxytryptophylphosphoramidate (5) and 2′,3′-dideoxycytidine-5′-monophosphate-(L)-methoxytryptophylphosphoramidate (7) were isolated by a chemical enzymatic method in order to study their pharmacological properties and to prepare new medicinal preparations based on them. __________ Translated from Khimiya Prirodnykh Soedinenii, No. 2, pp. 173–175, March–April, 2006.

Nature of catalytic effect of Ni(O)- and BF3OEt2-based systems in propene dimerization

¹H NMR, EPR and IR spectroscopic studies of the products of the interaction between components of the Ni[PPh₃]₄+EtOH+BF₃.OEt₂ and Ni(PPh₃)₄+BF₃OEt₂ systems suggest the formation of two types of complexes [HNi(PP₃)₃L]⁺[BF₃OEt]^– and [Ni(PPh₃)₃L]⁺BF ₄ ^– , which are catalytically active in propene dimerization.
