Samples of oxidized cellulose (OC) with various carboxyl contents and degrees of crystallinity were obtained by the oxidation of native and mercerized cellulose with a solution of nitrogen(IV) oxide in CCl4. A detailed characterization of these OC samples was performed. The effect of oxidation conditions (concentration of N2O4 in the solution and oxidation time) and starting cellulose material on OC characteristics (carboxyl, carbonyl and nitrogen content, degree of crystallinity and polymerization, surface area and swelling, and acidic properties) was investigated. Reactivity in the oxidation process was higher in mercerized cellulose than in native cellulose. The action of dilute solutions (10–15%) of N2O4 did not affect the degree of crystallinity of cellulose samples. Under these conditions, the oxidation took place mainly in amorphous regions and on the surface of crystallites. Oxidation in a concentrated (40%) N2O4 solution led to the destruction of crystallites, which increased the surface area and swelling of cellulose in water. The surface area and the swelling of OC samples increased with a decrease in the index of crystallinity. The effect of simultaneous substitution of a fluctuating cation and a divalent cation in LaMnO3 perovskite modifies the properties of the material to exhibit large valence colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) effect. A good example of these properties is (La1−2x Pr x Ca x )MnO3 (LPCMO) type CMR material. In this communication it is reported that, with the increase in x (for x=0.1, 0.15, 0.2), the T c varies between 100 and 120 K with improvisation in metal-insulator transition. Interestingly, resistance increases with x from few hundred ohms to few kilo ohms with corresponding decrease in the unit cell volume. The results of the studies using X-ray diffraction (XRD), electrical resistivity, magnetoresistance and ac susceptibility measurements on LPCMO samples for understanding the structural, transport and magnetic properties are discussed in detail.  相似文献

The adsorption of amino acids (AA) (glycine, L-alanine, L-proline) on oxidized cellulose (OC) with various carboxyl contents and degrees of crystallinity from aqueous and water/ethanol solutions was studied. It was found that multilayer adsorption occurs in concentrated solutions of AA. It proceeds according to successive mechanisms via adsorption of AA zwitterions onto carboxyls of already adsorbed AA. This leads to formation of chain AA associates in the OC phase. A sharp increase in swelling accompanies multilayer adsorption. It was established that structural characteristics and degree of polymerization of OC are the main factors that affect multilayer adsorption. The distribution of carboxyls in the OC phase also plays an important role. Multilayer adsorption does not proceed in water/ethanol solutions and in the case of the cationic form of AA.  相似文献

A single monolayer of CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) has been encapsulated into a 60 nm free-suspended layer-by-layer (LbL) film. The QD monolayer showed a low light-emission within this film in contact with supporting solid substrates, but the manifold increase of photoluminescencence intensity was observed when the film was lifted and freely suspended over the microfabricated cylindrical cavities. This phenomenon was discussed in relationship with the effect of the elimination of the surface quenching enhanced by optical reflection from highly reflective silicon cavities. We suggest that a significant increase of the photoluminescence intensity of QD monolayers suspended over the microfabricated array can be interesting for future diagnostic and sensing applications.  相似文献

The photoluminescence of CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) in different configurations at solid surfaces (glass, silicon, PDMS, and metals) is considered for three types of organization: QDs directly adsorbed on solid surfaces, separated from the solid surface by a nanoscale polymer film with different thickness, and encapsulated into a polymer film. The complete suppression of photoluminescence for QDs on conductive metal surfaces (copper, gold) indicated a strong quenching effect. The temporal variation of the photoluminescent intensity on other substrates (glass, silicon, and PDMS) can be tuned by placing the nanoscale (3-50 nm) LbL polymer film between QDs and the substrate. The photooxidation and photobleaching processes of QD nanoparticles in the vicinity of the solid surface can be tuned by proper selection of the substrate and the dielectric nanoscale polymer film placed between the substrate and QDs. Moreover, the encapsulation of QD nanoparticles into the polymer film resulted in a dramatic initial increase in the photoemission intensity due to the accelerated photooxidation process. The phenomenon of enhanced photoemission of QDs encapsulated into the ultrathin polymer film provides not only the opportunity for making flexible, ultrathin, QD-containing polymer films, transferable to any microfabricated substrate, but also improved light emitting properties.  相似文献

Adsorption of zwitterionic drugs (beta-lactam antibiotics and amino acids) onto samples of oxidized cellulose (OC) with various carboxyl contents and structural characteristics from aqueous and water/alcohol solutions was investigated. The adsorption process can be described according to the theory of localized stoichiometric adsorption and represented by Langmuir isotherms. It was established that the constants of interfacial distribution mainly increase with increased relative sorbate hydrophobicity. The dependencies of adsorption on pH of equilibrium drug solution have a maximum at pH 3-3.5, which is caused by peculiarities of dissociation of OC and sorbates. The drug uptake is shown to increase with an increase of alcohol mole fraction in the solution and transfer to the binary water/isopropanol from water/ethanol solutions. The dominant contribution to the increase of uptake is the desolvation of ionic groups of zwitterions in the solution, which increases with increased alcohol content. The degree of crystallinity of the sorbent has no considerable effect on drug adsorption from aqueous solutions. In water/alcohol solutions the adsorption of drugs by OC samples with similar exchange capacity increases with reducted uniformity of carboxylic group distribution in the volume of the polymer, which is connected with increased accessibility of carboxylic groups for sorbate molecules.  相似文献

Resonant ultrasound spectroscopy was used to measure the elastic constants of bcc Ta0.33V0.67 over the temperature range 3.5–300?K; the results were compared to earlier measurements on C15 TaV2. The temperature dependence of the polycrystalline shear modulus is completely different in the two phases; that of the bcc phase decreases with temperature whereas that of the C15 phases increases in an anomalous fashion. This difference is consistent with a model involving doubly-degenerate levels at the X point of the Brillouin zone in the C15 phase with the Fermi level lying near the doubly degenerate level. This model accounted for the unusual behaviour of the C15 phase. Debye temperatures were determined from the ultrasonic measurements: 295?K for the C15 phase and 315?K for the bcc phase.  相似文献
