In a Young–Michelson tandem interferometer a Michelson interferometer is illuminated through a pair of Young slits. The pattern produced by this set-up is analyzed theoretically. The consequences of small misalignments and uncompensated arms in the Michelson interferometer are studied. The effects of the spatial and temporal partial coherence of the source are also explored. Experimental results using a laser source are shown to be in good agreement with the predicted theoretical calculations.  相似文献

A polymer film formed by anodic oxidation of thiophene in acetonitrile on platinum at 2.08 V was examined by ellipsometry. The refraction index and absorption index were determined as a function of the wavelengths. The optical thickness was determined and compared with the electrical charge. Stoichiometric film growth by a two-electron reaction followed this comparison. The film properties studied were almost independent of the potential between −0.1 and +2.08 V. The time dependence of the ellipsometric parameter showed the film growth to be approximately linear with square root of time, typical for a diffusion controlled reaction.  相似文献

The passive behavior of ZrNi alloys near the rest potential is studied through in situ voltammetry, ellipsometry, and microscopic observation. A significant oxide layer growth is observed in aqueous 1 M KOH during the application of different potential programs currently used in the activation processes of the alloy. Oxide barrier effects and occlusion of hydrogen species within the film take place. The kinetics of the oxide layer formation under potential cycling plays a significant role in the activation process of metal alloys used in metal hydride batteries.Dedicated to Professor Gyorgy Horanyi on the occasion of his 70th birthday.  相似文献

A correlator working a multiline coherent source is demosntrated. Each of the wavelengths acts as an independent channel and generates achromatic correlation peaks. A comparison between experimental results obtained in monochromatic and polychromatic light indicates that a reduction of false alarms in pattern recognition is expected.  相似文献

Abstract

This article introduces the main achievements resulting from the DWDM/ODC project. The five areas of research activity within the DWDM/ODC project cover some of the main issues of design and development of dense wavelength division multiplexing systems for transparent optical networks. These issues are: performance assessment with arbitrary optical filtering; performance of signaling formats; dispersion compensation strategies for directly and externally modulated systems in presence of nonlinear transmission-induced degradation; and the impact of noise and crosstalk in the extent of transparent optical networks. All five areas of research activity have contributed significantly to a better understanding of the limitations present in dense wavelength division multiplexing systems.  相似文献

Fusion cross-sections for the 7Li + 12C reaction have been measured at energies above the Coulomb barrier by the direct detection of evaporation residues. The heavy evaporation residues with energies below 3 MeV could not be separated out from the α-particles in the spectrum and hence their contribution was estimated using statistical model calculations. The present work indicates that suppression of fusion cross-sections due to the breakup of 7Li may not be significant for 7Li + 12C reaction at energies around the barrier.  相似文献

The semiconducting properties of anodic passive films formed potentiostatically on polycrystalline copper in aqueous borax solutions were studied using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, photocurrent spectroscopy and ellipsometric measurements. The semiconducting nature of the cuprous passive layer was analysed as a function of pH (9.2>pH>7.4), electrode potential and with the addition of 3.5 mM Na2CO3 and 8 mM Na2SO4. The different growth conditions change the compactness and the defect or excess of cations accumulated in the compact inner cuprous layer, leading to different semiconducting properties. The use of selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) in the biomedical area has been increasing as an alternative to the growing bacterial resistance to antibiotics. In this research, SeNPs were synthesized by green synthesis using ascorbic acid (AsAc) as a reducing agent and methanolic extract of Calendula officinalis L. flowers as a stabilizer. Characterization of SeNPs was performed by UV-vis spectrophotometry, infrared spectrophotometry (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. SeNPs of 40–60 nm and spherical morphologies were obtained. The antibacterial activity of marigold extracts and fractions was evaluated by disk diffusion methodology. The evaluation of SeNPs at different incubation times was performed through the colony-forming unit (CFU) count, in both cases against Serratia marcescens, Enterobacter cloacae, and Alcaligenes faecalis bacteria. Partial antibacterial activity was observed with methanolic extracts of marigold leaves and flowers and total inhibition with SeNPs from 2 h for S. marcescens, 1 h for E. cloacae, and 30 min for A. faecalis. In addition, SeNPs were found to exhibit antioxidant activity. The results indicate that SeNPs present a potentiated effect of both antimicrobial and antioxidant activity compared to the individual use of marigold extracts or sodium selenite (Na2SeO3). Their application emerges as an alternative for the control of clinical pathogens.  相似文献
