Abstract— We have examined the fluorescence properties of excised intact normal human corneas from over a hundred donors, using synchronous excitation fluorescence spectroscopy. In some of the corneas from the donors, a fluoro-phore with an excitation band centered at 330 nm was observed. This fluorophore does not seem to correspond to the dityrosine moiety or to any photoproducts of tryptophan. Isolated corneas irradiated with light of 295 nm wavelength do not produce any fluorescent photoproducts, suggesting that the intact tissue has endogenous quenchers, radical scavengers and antioxidants that inhibit its photodamage. The non-tryptophan fluorophores that accumulate in some corneas thus appear to arise largely from the nonenzymatic glycosylation (glycation) of the constituent proteins as similar fluorophores are detected in the corneas of rats in which diabetes is induced.  相似文献

The regioselective syntheses and structures are reported for two tris-macrocylic compounds, each possessing two antiparallel loops on a macrocyclic scaffold constrained by two oxazoles and two thiazoles. NMR solution structures show the loops projecting from the same face of the macrocycle. Structural and optical properties of pure Mg thin film coated with Pd have been investigated. Pd-capped Mg thin films had been prepared by DC magnetron sputtering. This work presents an ex situ study on hydrogenation and dehydrogenation kinetics of Pd/Mg films at different conditions using XRD, AFM and optical spectrophotometer. We have succeeded to load thin films of Mg to MgH2 at normal temperature and normal pressure of hydrogen gas. In hydrogenation, α-MgH2 phase of magnesium hydride was observed in hydrogenated films at 200 °C and γ-MgH2 at 250 °C respectively. The desorption kinetics in vacuum also revealed the phase transformation α-MgH2 to γ-MgH2. A reflectance change was observed in hydrogenated films in comparison of as deposited thin film. Hydrogenated (H loaded) samples were observed partially transparent in comparison of as deposited.  相似文献

Plate impact experiments on the (210), (100), and (111) planes were performed to examine the role of crystalline anisotropy on the shock-induced decomposition of cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine (RDX) crystals. Time-resolved emission spectroscopy was used to probe the decomposition of single crystals shocked to peak stresses ranging between 7 and 20 GPa. Emission produced by decomposition intermediates was analyzed in terms of induction time to emission, emission intensity, and the emission spectra shapes as a function of stress and time. Utilizing these features, we found that the shock-induced decomposition of RDX crystals exhibits considerable anisotropy. Crystals shocked on the (210) and (100) planes were more sensitive to decomposition than crystals shocked on the (111) plane. The possible sources of the observed anisotropy are discussed with regard to the inelastic deformation mechanisms of shocked RDX. Our results suggest that, despite the anisotropy observed for shock initiation, decomposition pathways for all three orientations are similar.  相似文献

Governing non-linear integro-differential equations for cylindrically orthotropic shallow spherical shells resting on linear Winkler-Pasternak elastic foundations, undergoing moderately large deformations are presented. Three problems, namely, non-linear static deflection response, non-linear dynamic deflection response and dynamic snap-through buckling of orthotropic shells have been investigated. The influences of material orthotropy, foundation parameters and shell-material damping on the deflection response are determined for the clamped and the simply- supported immovable edge conditions accurately. Orthotropy, foundation interaction and material damping play significant roles in improving the load carrying capacity of the shell structures.  相似文献

This paper studies regression, where the reciprocal of the mean of a dependent variable is considered to be a linear function of the regressor variables, and the observations on the dependent variable are assumed to have an inverse Gaussian distribution. The large sample theory for the pseudo maximum likelihood estimators is available in the literature, only when the number of replications increase at a fixed rate. This is inadequate for many practical applications. This paper establishes consistency and derives the asymptotic distribution for the pseudo maximum likelihood estimators under very general conditions on the design points. This includes the case where the number of replications do not grow large, as well as the one where there are no replications. The living anionic polymerization of isocyanates carried out using conventional initiators is associated with side reactions due to rapid initiation rates as well as back-biting by the growing chain, resulting in a lack of control on the molecular weight (MW) and molecular weight distribution (MWD) of the polymers. Successful control over the reaction was possible by using additives that could prevent back-biting. We find an initiator in sodium benzanilide (Na-BA), which has a slow initiation rate combined with additive function, so that use of an external additive is eliminated. The initiator has resulted in polymers with high yields and an unprecedented control over the MW and MWD. It is possible to introduce a number of functionalities at the termini of the polymer by using Na-BA derivatives as well as suitable terminating agents, leading to macromonomer, reactive and chiral polymers, and chiral macromonomer in approximately 100% yields. In the process, the finding has expanded the scope of polyisocyanates in diverse applications.  相似文献
