Concentrated steady vorticities of the Euler equation on 2-d domains and their linear stability

We consider concentrated vorticities for the Euler equation on a smooth domain $\mathrm{\Omega }?{\mathbf{R}}^2$ in the form of

supported on well-separated vortical domains ${\mathrm{\Omega }}_j$, $j=1,\dots ,N$, of small diameters $O(r_j)$. A conformal mapping framework is set up to study this free boundary problem with ${\mathrm{\Omega }}_j$ being part of unknowns. For any given vorticities ${\mu }_1,\dots ,{\mu }_N$ and small $r_1,\dots ,r_N\in {\mathbf{R}}^{+}$, through a perturbation approach, we obtain such piecewise constant steady vortex patches as well as piecewise smooth Lipschitz steady vorticities, both concentrated near non-degenerate critical configurations of the Kirchhoff–Routh Hamiltonian function. When vortex patch evolution is considered as the boundary dynamics of $?{\mathrm{\Omega }}_j$, through an invariant subspace decomposition, it is also proved that the spectral/linear stability of such steady vortex patches is largely determined by that of the 2N-dimensional linearized point vortex dynamics, while the motion is highly oscillatory in the 2N-codim directions corresponding to the vortical domain shapes.     

Origins of Boosted Charge Storage on Heteroatom-Doped Carbons

Although tremendous efforts have been devoted to understanding the origin of boosted charge storage on heteroatom-doped carbons, none of the present studies has shown a whole landscape. Herein, by both experimental evidence and theoretical simulation, it is demonstrated that heteroatom doping not only results in a broadened operating voltage, but also successfully promotes the specific capacitance in aqueous supercapacitors. In particular, the electrolyte cations adsorbed on heteroatom-doped carbon can effectively inhibit hydrogen evolution reaction, a key step of water decomposition during the charging process, which broadens the voltage window of aqueous electrolytes even beyond the thermodynamic limit of water (1.23 V). Furthermore, the reduced adsorption energy of heteroatom-doped carbon consequently leads to more stored cations on the heteroatom-doped carbon surface, thus yielding a boosted charge storage performance.     

Numerical methods for finding multiple eigenvalues of matrices depending on parameters

Summary. Let be a square matrix dependent on parameters and , of which we choose as the eigenvalue parameter. Many computational problems are equivalent to finding a point such that has a multiple eigenvalue at . An incomplete decomposition of a matrix dependent on several parameters is proposed. Based on the developed theory two new algorithms are presented for computing multiple eigenvalues of with geometric multiplicity . A third algorithm is designed for the computation of multiple eigenvalues with geometric multiplicity but which also appears to have local quadratic convergence to semi-simple eigenvalues. Convergence analyses of these methods are given. Several numerical examples are presented which illustrate the behaviour and applications of our methods. 纳米MOSFET迁移率解析模型

从玻尔兹曼方程出发，重新计算了纳米MOSFET沟道内的载流子所服从的分布函数，特别是考虑了纳米MOSFET横向电场和纵向电场之间的相互作用，并且以得到的非平衡状态下的分布函数为基础，考虑载流子寿命和速度的统计分布，给出了纳米MOSFET载流子迁移率的解析表达式.通过与数值模拟结果进行比较和分析，该迁移率解析模型形式简洁、物理概念清晰，且具有相当精度. 关键词： 玻尔兹曼方程 纳米MOSFET 迁移率 沟道有效电场
