The present paper gives an account of different aspects of the tracer diffusion of Cs+ ions in alkali metal bromides. We have measured the diffusion coefficients, D, of cesium ions in 1% agar gel medium at 25 ∘C using a zone-diffusion technique over a concentration range of 5 × 10−5 to 0.1 mol,dm−3. The values of the diffusion coefficients were found to deviate from theory, which are explained on the basis of different
types of interactions occurring in the ion-gel-water system. The study is also focused on the effect of alkali metal bromides
on the obstruction effect and activation energy for the tracer-diffusion of cesium ions in agar gel medium. It is observed
that both parameters, extent of obstruction, ∝, and activation energy, E, decrease with increasing charge density of the cation of the supporting electrolyte. The influence of these trends is explained
on the basis of competitive hydration between the ions and agar molecules, and the relative distortion in the water structure
that is brought about by these different ions and agar molecules. 相似文献

A method has been developed for the direct determination of coenzyme A (CoA) and organic acid-CoA thioesters in mixtures using directly combined liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry (LC/ESI-MS). Mixtures of CoA and organic acid-CoA thioesters were analyzed by LC/ESI-MS with detection of protonated molecular ions and characteristic fragment ions for each compound. The identities of the CoA-thioesters were established based on LC retention times and simultaneously recorded mass spectra. Monitoring of the CoA specific fragment ion at m/z 428 throughout the chromatogram provides a unique fingerprint for CoA content in the samples that corroborates the identification of organic acid-CoA thioesters in the mixtures. Furthermore, fragment ions arising from the ester linkage portion of the molecule allow unambiguous identification of the CoA esters in the samples. A second LC elution system was developed that allows the simultaneous separation and identification of 2-hydroxypropionyl-CoA (lactyl-CoA) and 3-hydroxypropionyl CoA (3HP-CoA), which have the same mass and identical MS fragmentation behavior. The utility of LC/ESI-MS employing this elution system is demonstrated by the determination of 3HP-CoA and lactyl-CoA (converted to CoA-thioesters from their corresponding free acids using CoA-transferase) in fermentation broths from Escherichia coli strains engineered for the production of 3-hydroxypropionic acid (3HP). External calibration employing a purified 3HP-CoA standard allowed indirect quantification of 3HP content in the broth with a precision of 1% (RSD). The feasibility of extending the method described above to perform LC/selected reaction monitoring-tandem mass spectrometry for direct determination of organic acid-CoA thioesters in cells was also demonstrated. 相似文献

Deactivation studies of jack bean urease immobilized on porous alumina beads in the hydrolysis of urea were conducted in a
continuously stirred tank reactor (CSTR) at a temperature of 25°C and pH 7.0. Though the mechanism of poisoning of urease
by product ammonia is fairly well understood from the literature, the nature of the poisoning of urease by urea is presented
in this article. These studies were conducted by adsorbing the ammonia formed in the hydrolysis reaction. The results indicate
that, in the presence of the adsorbent Zeolite W, the deactivation rate is reduced by a factor of almost two, and thus provide
a technique for prolonging the life of the enzyme. The deactivation model suggests that the free form of the enzyme is most
susceptible to attack by the substrate urea. The experimental data suggest that deactivation by combined ammonia and urea

Hoodia gordonii is traditionally used in South Africa for its appetite suppressant properties. P57AS3 (P57), an oxypregnane steroidal glycoside, is the only reported active constituent from this plant as an appetite suppressant. Effective quality control of these extracts or products requires rapid methods to determine P57 content. New methods of liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) and LC-UV for analysis of P57 from H. gordonii have been developed. The quantitative determination of P57 was achieved with a Phenomenex Gemini (Torrance, CA) reversed-phase column using gradient mobile phase of water and acetonitrile, both containing 0.1% acetic acid. The method was validated for linearity, repeatability, and limits of detection and quantification. Good results were obtained in terms of repeatability (relative standard deviation <5.0%) and recovery (98.5-103.5%). The developed methods were applied to the determination of P57 for H. gordonii plant samples, one related genus (Opuntia ficus-indica), and dietary supplements that claim to contain H. gordonii. 相似文献

Novel cationic poly [AAm/NVP/DAPB] hydrogels (YH1 – YH5) were synthesized by free radical solution polymerization of AAm, NVP and DAPB by increasing the concentration of DAPB in the feed. According to swelling experiments, hydrogel YH5 with higher DAPB content gave relative higher swelling percentage compared to other hydrogels. The hydrogel YH5 was characterized by FTIR, TGA and SEM analysis. The anionic dye solution such as Orange-II, Reactive Golden Yellow and Acid Yellow were used as an adsorption medium to investigate the usability of the hydrogel for the removal of anionic dyes. The effect of pH of the adsorption medium, initial concentration of the dye, adsorbent dose, %swelling and contact time was also investigated. Furthermore, the Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms were applied and they showed a good fit to the experimental data. From the results, the uptake of dyes within the hydrogel increased in the following order: Reactive Golden Yellow>Orange-II>Acid Yellow. 相似文献

The objective of this research is to utilize a new poly[N,N-diallyl pyrrolidinium bromide-co-N,Ndimethyl acrylamide-co-acrylic acid sodium salt]superabsorbent hydrogel(SAH)for the removal of two anionic dyes,e.g.,Reactive Red 5B(RR5B)and Reactive Orange M2R(ROM2R),from water.The SAH was characterized by swelling in water,FTIR,TGA and SEM.The SAH DDA6showed good swelling property and thermal stability.We have also investigated the parameters affecting dye adsorption such as pH,adsorbent dose,adsorption rate and initial dye concentration.The experimental data were also analyzed by applying the well known Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. 相似文献

In the present investigation, a series of new Schiff bases 4a–f were synthesized by the condensation of N-[(4-amino-5-sulfanyl-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)methyl]-4-substituted-benzamides 3a–b with various substituted aromatic aldehydes in ethanol–dioxane mixture using catalytic amount of sulfuric acid. The starting materials 3a–b were in turn synthesized by the fusion of benzoyl glycine/substituted benzoylglycine with thiocarbohydrazide. Newly synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, NMR, mass spectra and elemental analyses. All the compounds were evaluated for their antibacterial and antifungal activity using the Minimum Inhibition Concentration (MIC) method by serial dilution technique. Characterization of dilute solution of gamma-irradiated polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) in acetone has been carried out. The polymer sample in form of natural beads was administered a gamma-ray dose of 30 kGy by a cobalt-60 radiationsource. Various types of viscosities, viscosity average molecular weight, shape and size of irradiated PMMA and its two fractions were calculated. The results were compared with those for unirradiated PMMA. Degradation of PMMA as a result of irradiation has been observed. 相似文献
