An investigation into causes and effects of high cyanide levels in the palladium-catalyzed cyanation reaction

[reaction: see text] The palladium-catalyzed cyanation reaction is known to be sensitive to dissolved cyanide. Investigation into some causes of high levels of dissolved cyanide is presented here, along with a robust solution to this problem.     

Copper(I)-assisted mild and convenient synthesis of new Se--N heterocycles: access to a promising class of GPx mimics

Benzisoselenazolines 15 and benzisoselenazines 21, designed as low molecular weight mimics of glutathione peroxidases, were synthesized for the first time. Starting from amines 13 and 14, a smooth introduction of selenium in nonactivated aryl bromides using KSeCN in the presence of CuI was developed. An equimolar quantity of CuI and the presence of Et(3)N as a base are necessary to achieve a complete conversion of the starting material. The reaction is feasible in various solvents such as DMF, acetonitrile, and THF. The desired new Se-N heterocycles 15 and 21 were isolated under optimized conditions in yields of 82 and 68%, respectively. Experiments have been conducted with various copper(I) and copper(II) salts, a chloroamine 17, an aryl bromide 18, and an N-acylated amine 19 to show the scope and the limitations of this method. The previously unknown sulfur analogues 20 and 22 have been synthesized in moderate yields using a slightly modified procedure. Finally, a mechanistic scheme has been proposed to discuss some interesting findings, which were obtained during the optimization process of this new introduction of selenium.

The development of organic fluorophores with efficient solid‐state emissions or aggregated‐state emissions in the red to near‐infrared region is still challenging. Reported herein are fluorophores having aggregation‐induced emission ranging from the orange to far red/near‐infrared (FR/NIR) region. The bioimaging performance of the designed fluorophore is shown to have potential as FR/NIR fluorescent probes for biological applications.

UTSA-280的氨改性以及C2H4/C2H6分离性能研究

炼厂干气中回收乙烯是扩宽C₂H₄来源的有效途径,但C₂H₄和C₂H₆物理性质和分子尺寸非常接近,分离困难.金属有机骨架材料(MOFs)近年来在低碳烃分离领域展现出广阔的前景.本工作采用氨吸附改性调节UTSA-280的结构,通过一维直孔道大小的调节实现C₂H₄/C₂H₆的高效分离.改性后的UTSA-280具有独特的超微孔结构能提升C₂H₄的吸附,而完全不吸附稍大的C₂H₆,实现理想的C₂H₄/C₂H₆吸附选择性(>1000).结果表明,改性后的UTSA-280的C₂H₄吸附量可提高至2.83 mmol/g,与未改性的材料相比增加29%,并且能阻挡C<...     

Evolution of microstructure and dielectric properties of (LiCe)-doped Na0.5Bi2.5Nb2O9 Aurivillius type ceramics

Aurivillius type (NaBi)_0.5?x(LiCe)_xBi₂Nb₂O₉ ceramics were prepared by the standard ceramics route. The single crystal structural ceramics were achieved for all compositions and lattice distortion was decreased by (LiCe) dopants. The temperature dependent dielectric properties revealed that all compositions possess a high Curie-temperature (>780 °C). A modified Curie–Weiss relationship is used to study the diffuseness behavior of a ferroelectric phase transition indicating the degree of diffuseness of NBN-based ceramics increased with (LiCe) modifications. The degradation of resistance implied a plausible model that Ce⁴⁺ ions entered into the B-site of the pseudo-perovskite structure and acted as acceptor doping. Further investigation demonstrated that both electrical conduction and dielectric relaxation processes were associated with the oxygen vacancies produced by the substitution of Nb⁵⁺ ions by the Ce⁴⁺ ions.

A supramolecular organic framework with ant topology featuring interdigitation and interpenetration

H₄BOPTC reacts with IMI to yield a supramolecular organic framework, formulated as [IMIH⁺]₂√[H₂BOPTC^2 ? ]√0.5H₂O (1) (IMI = imidazole, H₄BOPTC = benzophenone-3,3′,4,4′-tetracarboxylic acid). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that 1 shows a novel architecture with two-level hierarchical entanglement. H₂BOPTC^2 ?  connects to IMIH⁺ through hydrogen bonds, providing 1D ribbon. The basic ribbons are entangled into a 3D net with ant topology. Then the ant nets further interpenetrate to give the final entangled framework. The thermal stability, optical band gap energy and photoluminescent property of 1 have also been investigated.
