The general structure of violene/cyanine hybrids (see below) is exemplified by tetrakis(4-dimethylaminophenyl)ethene 1(RED) its vinylogue 2(RED) and its diazavinylogue 3(RED). As judged from their cyclic voltammograms and spectroelectrograms, oxidation occurs perfectly reversible by loss of two electrons creating closed shell systems 1-3(OX)+2 with strong bathochromic shifts (Michlers hydrol blue moieties). ESR spectra indicate only minor amounts of radical cations. At much higher potentials by another reversible loss of two electrons (-->1-3(OX)+4) the long wavelengths absorptions are replaced by shorter ones. In system 4, containing two 4-dimethylaminophenyl units only, the violene character is better preserved since oxidation occurs stepwise by single electron transfer up to 4(OX)+4. These results are backed by theoretical calculations for 1-4, demonstrating the strong geometrical differences between the various oxidation levels. Besides, new types of cyclic structures for 1-4(OX)+4 are indicated by these calculations: For systems 1-3 cyclic structures for tetracations have been found to be more stable by 3-20 kcalmol(-1) than acyclic structures, whereas for system 4 the acyclic structure is more stable by about 22 kcalmol(-1). The redox behavior of systems 1-4 is of general importance for electrochromic systems.  相似文献

The development of teacher education programs to better prepare elementary teachers requires an empirical base in which to anchor meaningful change. The research reported herein makes just such an effort. Preservice teachers' mathematics and science knowledge was measured as were their beliefs regarding instruction in these content areas. The results suggest that an increase in the number of college credit hours in science and mathematics content is less likely to effect necessary change than alteration of the methods and curriculum materials.  相似文献

Coenzyme A (CoA) is the major acyl group carrier in intermediary metabolism. Hopantenate (HoPan), a competitive inhibitor of the pantothenate kinases, was used to chemically antagonize CoA biosynthesis. HoPan dramatically reduced liver CoA and mice developed severe hypoglycemia. Insulin was reduced, glucagon and corticosterone were elevated, and fasting accelerated hypoglycemia. Metabolic profiling revealed a large increase in acylcarnitines, illustrating the role of carnitine in buffering acyl groups to maintain the nonesterified CoASH level. HoPan triggered significant changes in hepatic gene expression that substantially increased the thioesterases, which liberate CoASH from acyl-CoA, and increased pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase 1, which prevents the conversion of CoASH to acetyl-CoA. These results identify the metabolic rearrangements that maintain the CoASH pool which is critical to mitochondrial functions, including gluconeogenesis, fatty acid oxidation, and the tricarboxylic acid and urea cycles.  相似文献

Effects of addition of Zn (up to 1 wt%) on microstructure, precipitate structure and intergranular corrosion (IGC) in an Al–Mg–Si alloys were investigated. During ageing at 185?°C, the alloys showed modest increases in hardness as function of Zn content, corresponding to increased number densities of needle-shaped precipitates in the Al–Mg–Si alloy system. No precipitates of the Al–Zn–Mg alloy system were found. Using high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy (HAADF-STEM), the Zn atoms were incorporated in the precipitate structures at different atomic sites with various atomic column occupancies. Zn atoms segregated along grain boundaries, forming continuous film. It correlates to high IGC susceptibility when Zn concentration is ~1wt% and the materials in peak-aged condition.  相似文献

There are analytical methods for predicting the buckling loads of columns with the boundaries ideally fixed, i.e., simply supported or built-in, or partially fixed. Vibration-test results may furnish a practical method of measuring the fixity. In this investigation a beam, that may or may not be loaded as a column, is assumed to have a torsional spring at each end such that a zero torsional stiffness corresponds to a simply supported end and an infinite torsional stiffness corresponds to a built-in end. From a Rayleigh-Ritz analysis, the buckling load and the fundamental frequency of the beam are each computed as a function of the torsional stiffness. This procedure leads to a one-to-one nondimensional relationship between the buckling load and the natural frequency. From these calculations, it is seen that regardless of the degree of clamping of one end relative to the other end, all that is needed to predict the buckling load within a 15-percent range is a knowledge of the theoretical buckling load of the simply supported column; the theoretical fundamental frequency of the simply supported beam; and the experimental fundamental frequency.
