An optodynamic method for the real-time determination of the depth of a laser-drilled hole

An experimental method for determining the real-time depth of laser-drilled holes is presented. The proposed method involves detecting the laser-induced optoacoustic waves generated during the interaction of the laser beam with the material. Our optodynamic study involved measuring the propagation times of these waves as they traveled through the material and analyzing their temporal behavior during the drilling process. The experimental observations revealed an exponential relationship between the propagation time of the longitudinal stress wave and the number of consecutive laser pulses. Theoretical and numerical analysis on multispectral bioluminescence tomography

Recently, molecular imaging has been rapidly developed to studyphysiological and pathological processes in vivo at the cellularand molecular levels. Among molecular imaging modalities, opticalimaging has attracted a major attention for its unique advantages.In this paper, we establish a mathematical framework for multispectralbioluminescence tomography (BLT) that allows simultaneous studiesof multiple optical reporters. We show solution existence, uniquenessand continuous dependence on data as well as the limiting behaviourswhen the regularization parameter approaches zero or when thepenalty parameter approaches infinity. Then, we propose twonumerical schemes for multispectral BLT and derive error estimatesfor the corresponding solutions.     

A New Cohomology Theory of Orbifold

Based on the orbifold string theory model in physics, we construct a new cohomology ring for any almost complex orbifold. The key theorem is the associativity of this new ring. Some examples are computed.Both authors partially supported by the National Science Foundation     

On co-semihereditary rings

A ringR is left co-semihereditary (strongly left co-semihereditary) if every finitely cogenerated factor of a finitely cogenerated (arbitrary) injective leftR-module is injective. A left co-semihereditary ring, which is not strongly left co-semihereditary, is given to answer a question of Miller and Tumidge in the negative. If _R U _S defines a Morita duality,R is proved to be left co-semihereditary (left semihereditmy) if and only ifS is right semihereditary (right co-semihereditary). Assuming thatS⩾R is an almost excellent extension,S is shown to be (strongly) right co-semihereditary if and only ifR is (strongly) right co-semihereditary.
