Abstract

This article presents results of device fabrication using UV processing of materials and integrated optic components produced by flame hydrolysis deposition and hybrid sol-gel technology. Photosensitive materials were employed in the fabrication of channel waveguides and channel photo-imprinted waveguides incorporating Bragg gratings through single and double-step exposure.  相似文献

Three-dimensional mode coupling around a conical seamount in an ocean waveguide is studied. It is shown that strong mode coupling occurs at the edge of a conical seamount for the incident normal modes with significant amplitudes below the top of the seamount. Therefore, mode coupling is critical for the investigation of the acoustic field around a seamount. In addition, we suggest the use of random discretization for representing smoothly varying bathymetry. For the use of uniform discretization, when the horizontal step size is greater than half of the wavelength, artificial diffraction lobes appear due to coherent backscatter. However, by using the random discretization scheme instead, such artificial diffraction lobes are diffused, resulting in a faster convergence rate.  相似文献

We study a mixture of hard sphere colloidal particles and non-adsorbing polymers exposed to a plane wave external potential which represents a three-dimensional standing laser field. With computer simulations and density functional theory we investigate the structure and phase behaviour using the simple Asakura-Oosawa model. For varying laser wavelength λ we monitor the emergence of structure in response to the external field, as measured by the amplitude of the oscillations in the one-body density distribution. Between the ideal gas limit for small λ and the bulk limit of large λ there is a non-monotonic crossover that is governed by commensurability of λ and the colloid diameter. The theoretical curves are in good agreement with simulation results. Furthermore, the effect of the periodic field on the liquid-vapour transition is studied, a situation that we refer to as laser-induced condensation. Above a threshold value for λ the theoretical phase diagram indicates the stability of a ‘stacked’ fluid phase, which is a periodic succession (in the beam direction) of liquid and vapour slabs. This partially condensed phase causes a splitting of the liquid-vapour binodal leading to two critical and a triple point. All our predictions should be experimentally observable for colloid-polymer mixtures in an optical resonator.  相似文献

##正##An efficient,accurate,and numerically stable coupled-mode solution is presented for acoustic propagation in a range-dependent waveguide.This method is numerically stable due to the appropriately normalized range solutions introduced in the formulation.In addition,by combining a forward marching and a backward marching,this method provides accurate solutions for range-dependent propagation problems,especially those characterized by large bottom slope angle and/or high impedance contrast between water and the bottom.Furthermore,this two-way solution also provides high efficiency,which is achieved by applying the single-scatter approximation.Numerical examples are also provided to demonstrate the efficiency,accuracy, and stability of this method.  相似文献

ABSTRACT. To investigate the role of explicit and implicit assumptions in different models of weak and strong sustain‐ability, the Solow/Hartwick model of intergenerational equity with nonrenewable resources is gradually extended to include renewable resources, endogenous technical progress, and stock pollution. This reveals the fundamental role of endogenous technical progress for sustainable development, the inconsistency of implicit sustainability assumptions in various models, as well as the existence of a Hartwick rule for Daly's steady‐state economy. Moreover, it shows that the concepts of Solow sustainability and strong sustainability coincide as a special case of weak sustainability. The latter integrates economic and environmental concerns and aims at maintaining the welfare potential of an economy over time. It does not rule out economic growth by assumption. Rather, the analysis shows that environmental conservation and economic growth can be compatible with each other, without jeopardizing social welfare. Finally, the analysis shows that the discussion of sustain‐ability models cannot be restricted to the explicit differences that are usually pointed out by their authors and commentators. Rather, implicit assumptions must be made explicit.  相似文献

Assuming a 2-parameter-dependent family of smooth Z2-equivariantvector fields, a symmetry-breaking Takens-Bogdanov point isconsidered as an isolated organizing centre. Two branches ofsymmetry-breaking and asymmetric Hopf bifurcation points aswell as one branch of Z2-pitchforks which emanate from the organizingcentre are analyzed via asymptotic expansions. Abstract— Based on measurements with a single beam spectrophotometer, it has been found that subsequent red/far red irradiation cycles, which are usually given to monitor phytochrome content by dual wavelength spectroscopy, induce chlorophyll-related absorption changes in maize coleoptiles. Therefore, the difference signal, usually measured between 730 and 800 nm or 660 and 730 nm after saturating red and far red irradiations, does not represent solely the phytochrome content of preirradiated samples.  相似文献

An efficient method for the calculation of Breit-Pauli spin-orbit matrix elements for internally contracted multireference configuration interaction wavefunctions is presented. Instead of taking all two-electron contributions of the wavefunction explicitly into account, the most important two-electron contributions of the spin-orbit operator are incorporated by means of an effective one-electron Fock operator. As a further refinement, explicit two-electron contributions can be reinstated for the dominant all-internal parts of the wavefunctions.  相似文献
