Natural essential oil sample obtained from basil (Ocinum basilicum), and ethanol sample obtained from wine were measured to determine 14C specific activity, using two different sample preparation methods, and liquid scintillation counting method. The paper describes the use of two preparation methods, direct measurement method and CO2 absorption method, and the results obtained for this comparative study. Depending on carbon content of the sample and bubbling time, different correction factors of carbon mass trapped in liquid scintillation cocktail were established for CO2 absorption method.

The Black Sea tritium level was investigated in 33 places southward the Danube Delta covering about 360 km of the Black Sea Western Shore. Both surface (10 cm depth) and bottom (up to 20 m depth) water samples were collected. In the close vicinity of Danube Delta, the tritium activity concentration in the surface water was around 28 TU, which is almost the same as that of the Danube River waters, but it decreased to about 5 TU in the bottom water. This discrepancy slowly diminished wherein at about 120 km southward, the tritium content in both surface and bottom water reached almost the same constant value of 6.5 ± 2.3 TU. This value, about two and a half times smaller than that reported 17 years ago, remained almost unchanged for the last 240 km of shore up to the Turkish border.  相似文献

An aromatic polymer, poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) (PPO) was sulfonate with different sulfonation degrees (30, 50, and 75?% theoretical degree) to obtain an electrolytic polymer suitable as proton exchange membrane for fuel cells. Thermal behaviors of sulfonated PPO were tested by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry. The sulfonation degrees were correlated with glass transitions temperatures (T g) and the percent of weight loss. One notices a good fitting between sulfonation degree and the percent of weight loss thanks splitting of sulfonic moieties but it is not the same for glass transition temperatures that have a random variation.  相似文献
