Catalytic, low temperature preferential oxidation (PROX) of carbon monoxide by aqueous [5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)-2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octafluoroporphyrinato]rhodium(III) tetrasodium salt, (1[Rh(III)]) and [5,10,15,20-tetrakis(3-sulfonato-2,6-difluorophenyl)-2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octafluoroporphyrinato]rhodium(III) tetrasodium salt, (2[Rh(III)]) is reported. The PROX reaction occurs at ambient temperature in buffered (4 ≤ pH ≤ 13) aqueous solutions. Fluorination on the porphyrin periphery is shown to increase the CO PROX reaction rate, shift the metal centered redox potentials, and acidify ligated water molecules. Most importantly, β-fluorination increases the acidity of the rhodium hydride complex (pK(a) = 2.2 ± 0.2 for 2[Rh-D]); the dramatically increased acidity of the Rh(III) hydride complex precludes proton reduction and hydrogen activation near neutral pH, thereby permitting oxidation of CO to be unaffected by the presence of H(2). This new fluorinated water-soluble rhodium porphyrin-based homogenous catalyst system permits preferential oxidation of carbon monoxide in hydrogen gas streams at 308 °K using dioxygen or a sacrificial electron acceptor (indigo carmine) as the terminal oxidant.  相似文献

Diaryliodonium salts are shown to undergo rapid, fluoride-promoted aryl exchange reactions at room temperature in acetonitrile. Aryl exchange is shown to be exquisitely sensitive to the concentration of fluoride ion in solution; fast exchange is observed as the fluoride concentration approaches a stoichiometric amount at 50 mM substrate concentration. The reaction is slowed, but not halted if benzene is the solvent, indicating that free fluoride ion or a four-coordinate anionic I(III) species may be responsible for the exchange. The fluoride-promoted aryl exchange reaction is general and allows direct measurement of the relative stabilities of diaryliodonium salts featuring different aryl substituents. The aryl exchange reaction may be of practical use for the preparation of hitherto inaccessible diaryliodonium salts, thus it also has implications for labeling radiotracers for molecular imaging with 18F-fluoride (t1/2 = 109.7 min).  相似文献

This work presents the fabrication of cellulose acetate (CA)–ceramic composite membranes using dip coating technique. Ceramic supports used in this work were prepared from kaolin with an average pore size of 560 nm and total porosity of 33%. The dip coating parameters studied experimentally were the concentration of CA solution (varying from 2 wt% to 8 wt%) in acetone and dipping time (varying from 30 s to 150 s). The fabricated composite membranes were characterized using scanning electron microscope, gas permeation, pure water flux and ultrafiltration (UF) experiments using bovine serum albumin (BSA). It was observed that the membrane prepared with 2 wt% and 4 wt% CA were suitable for microfiltration applications and those with 6 wt% and 8 wt% were for ultrafiltration applications. Theoretical investigation was conducted to know the macroporous and mesoporous structure of the prepared membranes using Knudsen and viscous permeability analysis of air. A resistance in series model was applied to identify different resistances responsible for the flux decline. Phenomenological models were proposed to illustrate the dependency of hydraulic resistance of membrane on the structural parameters such as average pore size, effective porosity as well as dip coating parameters like dipping time and concentration of CA. It was found that, the growth rate of CA film on the ceramic support followed exponential growth law with respect to dipping time. The total hydraulic resistance of the membrane was evaluated to be inversely proportional to the ratio of pore sizes of top layer and ceramic support. The resistance due to the CA film was found to be depended to the order of 1.73 with respect to concentration of CA. An increase in the concentration of CA was found to be more effective than dipping time to reduce the membrane pore size.  相似文献

We present a methodology for the simultaneous optimization of pressure and network configurations for gas separation membrane permeators. The methodology targets and refines pressure clusters for efficient operation of membrane networks and follows a three-stage strategy. The first stage produces a pressure target curve (PTC) that allows the identification of Pareto optimal pressure cluster combinations. This is followed by a second stage, where the different optimal pressure ratios are used in an optimal search for process structures to identify the performance of the individual clusters. The third stage processes the information generated in the first two stages in a generalized process superstructure model. Throughout the methodology, a modified process synthesis model for membrane network optimization and design is employed which can be optimized robustly using the simulated annealing algorithm. Three illustrative examples are presented to demonstrate the proposed methodology for simultaneous pressure and layout optimization.  相似文献

The parasite African trypanosome swims in the bloodstream of mammals and causes the highly dangerous human sleeping sickness. Cell motility is essential for the parasite's survival within the mammalian host. We present an analysis of the random-walk pattern of a swimming trypanosome. From experimental time-autocorrelation functions for the direction of motion we identify two relaxation times that differ by an order of magnitude. They originate from the rapid deformations of the cell body and a slower rotational diffusion of the average swimming direction. Velocity fluctuations are athermal and increase for faster cells whose trajectories are also straighter. We demonstrate that such a complex dynamics is captured by two decoupled Langevin equations that decipher the complex trajectory pattern by referring it to the microscopic details of cell behavior.  相似文献
