Quantitative determination of ppb-order 10B was carried out in a small number of cultured tumor cells by particle tracks by the 10B(n,)7Li reactions using solid state nuclear track detector (SSNTD) for boron neutron capture therapy research. The detection limit of 10B concentration in tumor cells is less than 1·10-3 ppm under our experimental conditions which permits the quantitative determination of 10B in a small number of boronated tumor cells (105/ml = ca. 0.1 mg). Boron quantities in tumor cells determined were well compatible with the tumor cell killing effects of boron neutron capture therapy.  相似文献

Abstract

To assess the risks of organochlorine pesticides discharged into the hydrospheric environment of Egypt, river and lake water, drinking water, suspended solids, sediments and fish were collected during 1993—1994 from the Nile River and Manzala Lake in Egypt and were transported to Japan for chemical analysis. Among different organochlorine pesticides analyzed, p,p′-DDE was the most predominant in fish (7.6 to 67 ng/g wet wt.), sediments (3.2 to 432 ng/g dry wt.) and suspended solids (5.3 tc 138 pg/L). However, in the dissolved phase of water samples HCH compounds predominated (α-HCH, 71 to 2,815 pg/L). Concentrations of organochlorine pesticides, except chlordane, were higher in Manzala Lake than in the River Nile. Concentrations of organochlorine pesticides in fish corresponded with those in sediments from each location. Comparison of organochlorine concentrations in Nile River water with those reported in earlier studies suggested a decrease in concentrations during the last decade. However, concentrations of p,p′-DDE has increased in fish. It appears that the release of this metabolite from contaminated sediment is the major source of p,p′-DDE in fish during recent years.  相似文献

For tailoring solution-processable optoelectronic thin films, a rational strategy with amphiphilic molecular design is proposed. A donor-acceptor dyad consisting of an oligothiophene and C60, when modified with a hydrophilic wedge on one side and a paraffinic wedge on the other (1Amphi), forms over a wide temperature range a photoconducting smectic A liquid crystal having bicontinuous arrays of densely packed donor and acceptor units. In contrast, when modified with only paraffinic wedges (1Lipo), the dyad forms a smectic A liquid crystalline mesophase, which however is poorly conductive. As indicated by an absorption spectral feature along with a synchrotron radiation small-angle X-ray scattering profile, 1Lipo in the lamellar structure does not adopt a uniform head/tail orientation. Such defective donor and acceptor arrays likely contain a large number of trapping sites, leading to short-lived charge carriers, as observed by a flash photolysis time-resolved microwave conductivity study.  相似文献

A triply fused copper porphyrin dimer, when site-specifically modified on its periphery with hydrophobic and hydrophilic wedges (1C12/TEG), self-assembles into a columnar liquid crystalline (LC) mesophase over a wide-temperature range from -17 to 99 degrees C but gives rise to an amorphous solid when modified with only hydrophobic (1C12/C12) or hydrophilic wedges (1TEG/TEG). A LC film of 1C12/TEG displays at 16 degrees C a top-class one-dimensional electron mobility (0.27 cm2/V x s), as evaluated from its maximum flash-photolysis time-resolved microwave conductivity.  相似文献

The structure of a dual-component organogel consisting of methyl 4,6-O-(p-aminobenzylidene)-alpha-D-glucopyranoside and methyl 4,6-O-(p-nitrobenzylidene)-alpha-D-glucopyranoside in diphenyl ether was investigated with small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). The individual components gelatinized the solvent to yield a colorless gel and the gel fiber consisted of the crystal, providing the crystalline peaks at the same diffraction angles as those of the solid samples. When the components were mixed in equimolar ratio and dissolved in diphenyl ether, a yellow gel was formed and the crystalline peaks disappeared. For all compositions, the SAXS profiles were well fitted by a cylinder model. The cross-sectional radius of gyration, r(c), was determined from the cross-sectional Guinier plot (qI vs q(2), where I and q are the scattering intensity and the magnitude of the scattering vector). The value of r(c) reached a minimum of 3.0 nm at the equimolar composition. By correcting the data for the thermal scattering background, we obtained the entire SAXS profile for the equimolar dual-component gel. From this profile, the radial electron density distribution was determined and the radius of the cylinder was estimated to be 2.6 nm. The electron density distribution thus obtained revealed that four gelator molecules are packed in the sectional direction. This model was consistent with the size of the gelator molecules.  相似文献

Spider dragline silk is a composite biopolymer that harbors extraordinary mechanical characteristics, and consists of a hierarchically arranged protein core surrounded by outer “skin” layers. However, the contribution of the successive fiber layers on material properties has not been well defined. Here, the influence of the different components on the physicochemical and mechanical properties of dragline is investigated. The crystal structure and the mechanical properties are not changed significantly after the removal of skin constituents, indicating that the core region of dragline silk fibers determines the structural and mechanical properties. Furthermore, the outer layers have little influence on supercontraction, suggesting they do not function as protection against the penetration of water molecules. On the other hand, the outer layers offer some protection against protease digestion. The present study provides insight into how the function and structure of silk fibers are modulated and facilitates the design of silk‐inspired functional materials.  相似文献
