The magnetic and petrochemical properties of basalts dredged from the rift zone at the southern part of the Red Sea at approximately 18° N are studied. The conditions of their formation and evolution are elucidated. The formation of basalts is found to occur in two stages differing in their magma supply rates and redox conditions. Special features of magnetic behavior and the anomalous geomagnetic field in the region were used to determine the sites where the rocks had experienced strong thermodynamic effects (tectonic strain, deformation, heating, etc.). The conditions in which natural remanent magnetization of the basalts was formed are estimated. 相似文献

In situ investigation of membrane proteins is a challenging task. Previously we demonstrated that nitroxide labels combined with pulsed ESR spectroscopy is a promising tool for this purpose. However, the nitroxide labels suffer from poor stability, high background labeling, and low sensitivity. Here we show that Finland (FTAM) and OX063 based labels enable labeling of the cobalamin transporter BtuB and BamA, the central component of the β-barrel assembly machinery (BAM) complex, in E coli. Compared to the methanethiosulfonate spin label (MTSL), trityl labels eliminated the background signals and enabled specific in situ labeling of the proteins with high efficiency. The OX063 labels show a long phase memory time (TM) of ≈5 μs. All the trityls enabled distance measurements between BtuB and an orthogonally labeled substrate with high selectivity and sensitivity down to a few μm concentration. The behavior of two-sublattice natural ferromagnetics under the effects of static and variable fields and high and low temperatures
is studied. Novel unknown peculiarities of thermoremanent magnetization (TRM) and partial thermoremanent magnetization (pTRM)
dependences on fields and temperatures are obtained. Self-reversal of TM and pTRM in the sample, where self-reversal has not
been observed prior to the application of fields and temperatures, is revealed.

Human biological liquids comprise various surfactants, which adsorb at liquid interfaces and lead to a variation in surface tension. The adsorption processes involving low molecular weight surfactants, proteins and phospholipids play a vital role in the physiological functions of the human organism, especially if large surfaces are involved (e.g., gas exchange in lungs, metabolism of kidneys, liver and brain). Dynamic surface tensiometric studies of biological liquids like serum and cerebrospinal fluid provide surrogate parameters that reflect surface tension phenomena. We provide dynamic surface tension data of serum and cerebrospinal fluid that were collected from healthy volunteers and patients with rheumatic, neurological or oncological diseases. Our studies indicate that dynamic surface tension data are helpful for diagnostic purposes and for monitoring of therapeutic interventions. 相似文献
