A post-column infusion system was developed in order to analyze suppression of electrospray ionization (ESI) tandem mass spectrometry response in the presence of endogenous plasma interferences. By enabling direct detection of these interfering components, this experimental system was used to analyze the ability of several common extraction procedures to remove endogenous plasma components that cause changes in the ESI response of model drug substances. Methyl-t-butyl ether (MTBE) liquid-liquid, Oasis and Empore solid-phase, and acetonitrile (ACN) protein precipitation sample preparation methods were tested using the post-column infusion system. In all cases, ACN protein precipitation samples showed the greatest amount of ESI response suppression while liquid-liquid extracts demonstrated the least. In addition, the three test compounds, phenacetin, caffeine, and a representative Merck compound, demonstrated that ESI response suppression is compound dependent. Suppression was greatest with caffeine, the most polar analyte, and the smallest for the Merck compound, the least polar analyte. Copyright 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We report measurements of non-linear charge transport in epitaxial (La1−x Pr x )0.7Ca0.3MnO3 thin films fabricated on (100) oriented SrTiO3 single crystals by pulsed laser deposition. The end members of this series, namely Pr0.7Ca0.3MnO3 and La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 are canonical charge-ordered (CO) and ferromagnetic manganites, respectively. The onset of the CO state in Pr0.7Ca0.3MnO3 is manifested by a pronounced insulating behavior below ∼ 200 K. The CO state remains stable even when a large (∼ 2×105 V/cm) electric field is applied across the thin film samples. However, on substitution of Pr with La, a crossover from the highly resistive CO state to a state of metallic character is observed at relatively low electric fields. The current-voltage characteristics of the samples at low temperatures show hysteretic and history dependent effects. The electric field driven charge transport in the system is modelled on the basis of an inhomogeneous medium consisting of ferromagnetic metallic clusters dispersed in a CO background.  相似文献

Gold quantum dots (AuQDs) were synthesized and electrostatically conjugated to goat-derived anti-human IgG for the purpose of detecting human IgG in solution over a broad range of concentrations. The system is able to detect human IgG by linear fluorescence quenching over a micromolar to nanomolar concentration range. We have demonstrated the specificity and a wide dynamic range of the proposed immunoassay. The quenching is a result of competitive surface quenching of the AuQDs. Characterization, details of the immunoassay, and the quenching mechanism, are discussed.  相似文献

Properties of fluoroelastomer/semicrystalline perfluoropolymer nano-blends   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Properties of blends of semicrystalline perfluoropolymers in fluoroelastomers strongly depend on the size of the dispersed phase and are at the best when dispersed phase dimension is well below 0.1 μm, i.e. in the nano-scale region. This fine dispersion is obtained with an innovative mixing technology based on microemulsion polymerization. Further increase of properties can be obtained by generating chemical links between fluoroelastomer and semicrystalline fluoropolymer. Nano-blends combine the performing properties of fluoroelastomers with those of semicrystalline perfluoropolymers. For example, these nano-blends have at the same time the sealing and mechanical properties of fluoroelastomers and the exceptional thermal and chemical resistance, low permeability and low friction coefficient of semicrystalline perfluoropolymers. In addition, as dispersed phase size is below visible light wavelength, finished items made with these nano-blends are optically transparent even when they contain as much as 40 wt.% of semicrystalline perfluoropolymer.  相似文献

During the last ten years, the Italian Universities of Parma and Urbino collaborated on a special radioecological program having the aim to study the levels and the distribution of long-lived radionuclides in different marine and terrestrial matrixes. This paper summarizes the results concerning the concentrations of 239+240Pu and 238Pu, 241Am and 137Cs in sediments collected in the Ligurian and South Tyrrhenian Seas (Rapallo Harbour, Vado Ligure Canyon, Eolie Islands). Superficial sediments and sediment cores were collected. For cores the vertical distribution was calculated and the sedimentation rate obtained. 137Cs was determined directly by gamma-spectrometry, while 239+240Pu, 238Pu and 241Am were separated by extraction chromatography, electroplating and determined by alpha-spectrometry. The self-chemical ionization of diethylzinc is examined by Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) mass spectrometry and semiempirical molecular orbital calculations. Electron impact of diethylzinc neutral produces the radical cation, C(4)H(15)Zn(+) (m/z x 122), which reacts further with the neutral (C(2)H(5))(2)Zn to give the following product ions: Zn(+) (m/z x 64), C(2)H(5)Zn(+) (m/z x 93), C(4)H(9)Zn(+) (m/z x 121), C(4)H(11)Zn(2)(+) (m/z x 187), and C(6)H(15)Zn(2)(+) (m/z x 215). To determine the structure and pathways for production of these ions, monoisotopic (12)C(4)H(15)(64)Zn(+), (64)Zn(+) and (12)C(2)H(5)(64)Zn(+) were individually isolated and reacted with the neutral background. We also performed semiempirical molecular orbital calculations (ZINDO/1). The molecular orbital calculations and experimental data are consistent in predicting that the ethyl group on the diethylzinc cation carries the positive charge. The primary objective of this study was to observe the evolution of anthropogenic radioactivity contamination in the Antarctic continent throughout the period 1997–1999. Moreover, results have been compared with those obtained for previous expeditions, starting from 1987. As far as 137Cs is concerned, interesting considerations could be made due to the great amount of available data. On the whole, radioactive contamination seems to be higher in continental than in marine environments. For lake algae, contamination seems to decrease gradually in the order: Tarn Flat, Edmondson Point, Carezza Lake. Focusing on 137Cs activity data, a clear temporal decreasing trend was observed in all samples: for sea water, values decreased from mean values of 0.9?Bq/m3 in 1987 to 0.5?Bq/m3 in 1999, a 56% decrease (20% of the total is due to natural decay of 137Cs). For lake waters and lake algae, the decreases are higher (80 and 30%, respectively) and the same can be assessed for sediments and soils, even if the resulting distributions are more complicated. The highest values for all radionuclides analysed were detected in terrestrial organisms (mosses, lake algae, and lichens). As a consequence, these matrices appear to be good bioindicators of radioactive contamination. Finally, although the Antarctic continent is affected by some degree by anthropogenic radioactive pollution, our results for 137Cs show that we are facing a progressive decrease. Moreover, contamination in other parts of the world is much higher: from 6–10 times in the Mediterranean Sea and 20–50 times in the North Sea and Black Sea.  相似文献

Abstract

The results of the analysis of both natural (Th-232, U-238 and K-40) and artificial (Cs-137) radioactivity contained in samples collected during the 1989–90 and 1990–91 PNRA Scientific Campaigns in the Terra Nova Bay (Ross Sea) marine ecosystem, are presented in this paper. The data refers to samples of sea water, pack water, sediments and organisms belonging to demersal ichthyofauna (Pagothenia bernacchii, Chionodraco hamatus) and soft bottom macrofauna (Adamussium colbecki) collected in different coastal and off shore stations of the area investigated. Some sea water samples collected on the way to subAntarctic areas were also considered. The radiocontamination detected in sediments was correlated to the quantities of organic matter, organic carbon and nitrogen contained in the samples. Additionally, Cs-137 concentration factors were calculated for the different biological specimens and their anatomical components. Data values, with special consideration for anthropogenic Cs-137, are compared to results obtained from similar matrixes collected in the Northern Hemisphere in temperate waters before and after the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear plant.  相似文献
