Optimization of experimental conditions for the preparative displacement chromatography of antitumor anthracycline antibiotics on carboxylic sorbents

The physico-chemical conditions and the limits of the rates of mobile phases are determined when effective regimes of preparative chromatography in the conditions of sharpening the boundaries of chromatographic zones of anthracycline antibiotics are realized. The influence of pH on the equilibrium, kinetics and dynamics of sorption of anthracycline antibiotics (rubomycin, doxorubicin and carminomycin) on the carboxylic sorbents has been studied.     

Estimation of the kinetic characteristics of sorption of an organic ion on a heterogeneous crosslinked polymer sorbent within the framework of a bidisperse model

For the sorption of rubomycin, an antitumor athracycline-type antibiotic, on BDM-12 carboxyl-containing heterogeneous crosslinked polymer sorbent, it was shown that the measured time dependences of the extent of process are determined by two characteristic times: τ₁ (in the range of short times) and τ₂ (at long times). A phenomenological theory of the kinetics of sorption on the heterogeneous sorbent was developed on the basis of a biporous sorbent model. The dependences of the characteristic times τ₁ and τ₂ on the sorbent grain radius were obtained. It was concluded that the theory makes predictions in good agreement with experimental data and allows calculating the most important kinetic parameters of sorption of organic ions on polymer sorbents: the time of diffusion of the sorbate into microgranules, the diffusion coefficient of the sorbate in transport pores, the effective coefficient of the sorbate diffusion into the heterogeneous sorbent, etc.     

Steady streaming around a spherical drop displaced from the velocity antinode in an acoustic levitation field

The steady (acoustic) streaming associated with a sphericaldrop displaced from the velocity antinode of a standing waveis studied. The ratio of the particle size to the acoustic wavelengthis treated as small but non-zero, and the solution is developedin the form of a two-term expansion in terms of the correspondingsmallness parameter. The drop viscosity is assumed to be muchhigher than that of the surrounding fluid, which is the casefor a drop in a gas medium. There are essentially three distinctregions where the steady streaming flow is analysed: insidethe drop (internal circulation), in the Stokes shear-wave layerat the surface on the gas side, and the gas outside the Stokeslayer (the outer streaming region). Solutions for the internalcirculation and the outer streaming are obtained in the limitof small Reynolds number. Despite the gas-to-liquid viscosity ratio being small, the outerstreaming may be dramatically affected by the fact that thesphere is liquid as opposed to solid. The parameter that measuresthe effect of liquidity is essentially the viscosity ratio dividedby the relative (to the particle size) thickness of the Stokeslayer. The case of a solid sphere is recovered by letting thisparameter go to zero.
