Background
cAMP is an ubiquitous second messenger mediating various neuronal functions, often as a consequence of increased intracellular Ca2+ levels. While imaging of calcium is commonly used in neuroscience applications, probing for cAMP levels has not yet been performed in living vertebrate neuronal tissue before. 相似文献3.

Feeding strategies of earthworms and their influence on soil processes are often inferred from morphological, behavioral and physiological traits. We used (13)C and (15)N natural abundance in earthworms, soils and plants to explore patterns of resource utilization by different species of earthworms in three tropical ecosystems in Puerto Rico. In a high altitude dwarf forest, native earthworms Trigaster longissimus and Estherella sp. showed less (15)N enrichment ((15)N = 3-6 per thousand) than exotic Pontoscolex corethrurus ((15)N =7-9 per thousand) indicating different food sources or stronger isotopic discrimination by the latter. Conversely, in a lower altitude tabonuco forest, Estherella sp. and P. corethrurus overlapped completely in (15)N enrichment ((15)N = 6-9 per thousand), suggesting the potential for interspecific competition for N resources. A tabonuco forest converted to pasture contained only P. corethrurus which were less enriched in (15)N than those in the forest sites, but more highly enriched in (13)C suggesting assimilation of C from the predominant C(4) grass. These results support the utility of stable isotopes to delineate resource partitioning and potential competitive interactions among earthworm species. Copyright 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

This paper reports the results of numerical simulations of the acoustics in a two-dimensional (plane) motor using a high-order
accurate, low-dissipation numerical solver. For verification we compare solutions to Culick’s (AIAA J 4(8):1462–1464, 1966)
asymptotic solution for constant injection, and to recent results of Hegab and Kassoy (AIAA J 44(4):812–826, 2006) for a space-
and time-dependent mass injection. We present results when the injection boundary condition is described by propellant morphology
and by white noise. Morphology strongly affects the amplitude of the longitudinal acoustic modes, and in this connection white
noise is not a suitable surrogate.

Specific populations of normal and malignant epithelium from three radical prostatectomy tissue specimens were procured by laser capture microdissection (LCM) and analyzed by two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2-D PAGE). Six proteins that were only seen in malignant cells and two proteins that were only seen in benign epithelium were reproducibly observed in two of two cases examined. Furthermore, these proteins were not observed in the 2-D PAGE profiles from the patient-matched microdissected stromal cell populations, but were seen in the protein profiles from the undissected whole cryostat sections. One of these proteins was determined to be prostate-specific antigen (PSA) by Western blot analysis, and intriguingly the remaining protein candidates were found to be at least as abundant as the PSA protein. Comparison of 2-D PAGE profiles of microdissected cell with matched in vitro cell lines from the same patient, and metastatic prostate cancer cell lines (LnCaP and PC3) showed striking differences between prostate cells in vivo and in vitro with less than 20% shared proteins. The data demonstrate that 2-D PAGE analysis of LCM-derived cells can reliably detect alterations in protein expression associated with prostate cancer, and that these differentially expressed proteins are produced in high enough levels which could allow for their clinical utility as new targets for therapeutic intervention, serum markers, and/or imaging markers. 相似文献
