Development in Synthesis,Electrochemistry, LB Moieties of Phenothiazine Based Units

A convenient and higher yielding synthetic route to N‐alkyl‐bis(thiophene)phenothiazine derivatives is reported and their aggregation, electrochemical properties and polymerization are characterized. The key step in the synthesis of this group of compounds has been the Stille type coupling reaction between the N‐alkyldibromophenothiazine and tin derivatives of thiophene as the best way for preparation of conjugated N‐alkylphenothiazine derivatives. For this group of compounds we also present an electrochemical polymerization effect and widely adopted approach to prepare structurally ordered thin, electroconducting films by Langmuir–Blodgett technique.     

Debye temperature of cubic crystals

An algorithm for determination of the Debye temperature is presented, which enables the easy computation of the Debye temperature for arbitrary stable cubic crystal.     

On tolerance lattices of algebras in congruence modular varieties

We prove that the tolerance lattice TolA of an algebra A from a congruence modular variety V is 0-1 modular and satisfies the general disjointness property. If V is congruence distributive, then the lattice Tol A is pseudocomplemented. If V admits a majority term, then Tol A is 0-modular. On Raman optical activity sign-switching between the ground and excited states leading to an unusual resonance ROA induced chirality

Raman optical activity (ROA) spectra recorded for a chiral naphthalene diimide derivative (nBu-NDI–BINAM) dissolved in a series of solvents exhibit strong solute to solvent induced chirality with: (1) dominating bands of solvents, (2) nBu-NDI–BINAM resonance ROA (RROA) bands which are barely visible, (3) monosignate RROA Solvent spectra with an unexpected sign concordant with that of the ECD band of the resonant electronic state, (4) bisignate RROA bands for a few solvents, and (5) superposition of non-resonant and resonant ROA bands of the chiral solvents. The unusual ROA enhancement was explained in terms of resonance energy transfer with resonant Raman emission. The surprising RROA sign-switching was found to be due to specific conformational equilibria where one solute conformer dominates in the ground and the other in the first excited singlet state, and, the signs of the related ECD bands of these two conformers are opposite.

Unusual solute to solvent induced chirality in ROA comes from specific conformer equilibria in the ground and the excited states.     

Distributive lattices determined by weighted double skeletons

Related to his S-glued sum construction, the skeleton S(L) of a finite lattice L was introduced by C. Herrmann in 1973. Our theorem asserts that if D is a finite distributive lattice and its second skeleton, S(S(D)), is the trivial lattice, then D is characterized by its weighted double skeleton, introduced by the second author in 2006. The assumption on the second skeleton is essential.     

Novel Method for HPLC Analysis of Triterpenic Acids Using 9-Anthryldiazomethane Derivatization and Fluorescence Detection

Triterpenic acids are a group of secondary plant metabolites which are part of the cuticular waxes covering fruits, leaves, and flowers. To date, quantitative analysis of these compounds has often been conducted using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with spectrophotometric detection or mass spectrometry; however, these methods have some major drawbacks. This paper reports a new method of analysis implementing derivatization with 9-anthryldiazomethane and fluorescence detection. The method consists of the extraction of analytes from a matrix, purification with anion exchanging SPE columns, and an optional step of the alkaline hydrolysis of triterpenic acid esters. The paper also describes a fast and easy method for the synthesis of the derivatization agent. The detection limits of the method presented are approximately 100-fold lower than in a similar method using ultraviolet spectrophotometry as the mode of detection. The recovery and repeatability of the method are at satisfactory levels.
