The mobilities of three aromatic sulfonates, ranging in charge from -1 to -3, were investigated by capillary electrophoresis using buffers containing 0 to 75% ethanol or 2-propanol. Absolute mobilities were determined by extrapolation of the effective mobilities to zero ionic strength according to the Pitts' equation. For all buffers studied, ions of higher charge experienced larger ionic strength effects. The resulting ionic strength-induced selectivity alterations were more dramatic when organic solvents were present in the media. Furthermore, for different organic modifier types and contents, the magnitude of the ionic strength effect was governed to a large extent by the 1/(eta epsilon 1/2) dependence in the electrophoretic effect of the Pitts' equation. Addition of ethanol or 2-propanol to the electrophoretic media resulted in changes in the absolute mobilities of the ions. These solvent-induced mobility changes are attributed to dielectric friction. As predicted by the Hubbard-Onsager model, dielectric friction increased with increasing organic content and with increasing analyte charge. As a result, dramatic changes in the relative absolute mobilities were observed, such as a reversal in migration order between sulfonates of -1 and -3 charge in 75% 2-propanol. Within the alcohols, the Hubbard-Onsager model was successful at predicting the relative mobility trends upon changing solvent. However, the relative trends observed between acetonitrile-water and alcohol-water media were not consistent with the model. This may be explained by the continuum nature of the model, whereby the different ion-solvent interactions characteristic to each solvent class are not taken into account.  相似文献

Metabolite-sensing mRNAs, or "riboswitches," specifically interact with small ligands and direct expression of the genes involved in their metabolism. Riboswitches contain sensing "aptamer" modules, capable of ligand-induced structural changes, and downstream regions, harboring expression-controlling elements. We report the crystal structures of the add A-riboswitch and xpt G-riboswitch aptamer modules that distinguish between bound adenine and guanine with exquisite specificity and modulate expression of two different sets of genes. The riboswitches form tuning fork-like architectures, in which the prongs are held in parallel through hairpin loop interactions, and the internal bubble zippers up to form the purine binding pocket. The bound purines are held by hydrogen bonding interactions involving conserved nucleotides along their entire periphery. Recognition specificity is associated with Watson-Crick pairing of the encapsulated adenine and guanine ligands with uridine and cytosine, respectively.  相似文献

Compounds of the form Ru(X2bipy)(PPh3)2(-C triple bond CC6H4NO2-p)2(X2bipy = 4,4'-X(2)-2,2'-bipyridine, X = Me 3a, Br 3b, I 3c) have been synthesised from the mono-alkynyl precursors Ru(X2bipy)(PPh3)2(-C triple bond CC6H4NO2-p)Cl (X = Me 2a, Br 2b, I 2c); the former are the first ruthenium bis-alkynyl compounds that also contain a bipyridyl ligand. Spectroelectrochemical investigation of 3a shows that the metal is readily oxidised to form the ruthenium(III) compound 3a+, and will also undergo a single-electron reduction at each nitro group to form 3a2-. ESR and UV/visible spectra of these redox congeners are presented. We also report the synthesis of [Ru(Me2bipy)(PPh3)2(-C triple bond CBut)(N triple bond N)][PF6] during the attempted synthesis of Ru(Me2bipy)(PPh3)2(-C triple bond CBut)2, and report its X-ray crystal structure and IR spectrum. X-Ray crystal structures of 3b and 3c(as two different solvates) are presented, and the nature of the intermolecular interactions seen therein is discussed. Z-Scan measurements on Ru(Me2bipy)(PPh3)2(-C triple bond CR)Cl (R = C6H4NO2-p2a, But, Ph, C6H4Me) are also reported, and show that Ru(Me2bipy)(PPh3)2(-C triple bond CR)Cl (R = C6H4NO2-p2a, Ph) exhibit moderate third-order non-linearities.  相似文献

In the course of aggregation of very small colloid particles (nanoparticles) the overlap of the diffuse layers is practically complete, so that one cannot apply the common DLVO theory. Since nanopoarticles are small compared to the extent of the diffuse layer, the process is considered in the same way as for two interacting ions. Therefore, the Br?nsted concept based on the Transition State Theory was applied. The charge of interacting nanoparticles was calculated by means of the Surface Complexation Model and decrease of effective charge of particles was also taken into account. Numerical simulations were performed using the parameters for hematite and rutile colloid systems. The effect of pH and electrolyte concentration on the stability coefficient of nanosystems was found to be more pronounced but similar to that for regular colloidal systems. The effect markedly depends on the nature of the solid which is characterized by equilibrium constants of surface reactions responsible for surface charge, i.e., by the point of zero charge, while the specificity of counterions is described by their association affinity, i.e., by surface association equilibrium constants. The most pronounced is the particle size effect. It was shown that extremely small particles cannot be stabilized by an electrostatic repulsion barrier. Additionally, at the same mass concentration, nanoparticles aggregate more rapidly than ordinary colloidal particles due to thier higher number concentration.  相似文献

The syntheses, structure solutions, and physicochemical and catalytic characterizations of the novel zeolites SSZ-53 and SSZ-59 are described. SSZ-53 and SSZ-59 were synthesized under hydrothermal conditions with the [1-(4-fluorophenyl)cyclopentylmethyl]trimethyl ammonium cation and 1-[1-(4-chlorophenyl)cyclopentylmethyl]-1-methyl azocanium cation, respectively, as structure-directing agents. The framework topology of SSZ-53 was solved with the FOCUS method, and the structure of SSZ-59 was determined by model building. Rietveld refinement of synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data confirms each proposed model. SSZ-53 and SSZ-59 each possess a one-dimensional channel system delimited by 14-membered rings. Results from transmission electron microscopy, electron diffraction, catalytic experiments (spaciousness index and constraint index tests), and argon and hydrocarbon adsorption experiments are consistent with the proposed structures.  相似文献

Ionization energies of hypervalent Li(2)F, Li(2)Cl and Na(2)Cl molecules detected by surface ionization electron impact neutralization mass spectrometry are reported. The ionization energies were 3.78 +/- 0.2 eV for Li(2)F, 4.93 +/- 0.2 eV for Li(2)Cl, and 4.21 +/- 0.2 eV for Na(2)Cl. The ionization energies (IE) agree with theoretical ionization energies calculated by ab initio methods, supporting the theoretical prediction that Li(2)F has a hyperlithiated configuration in which the odd electron delocalizes over the two lithiums and with photoionization measurement. The first ionization energy of Na(2)Cl was experimentally confirmed earlier and for Li(2)Cl as well.8 We have developed and used this new approach for the problem--in the present work ions were first formed by surface ionization, followed by electron attachment (neutralization).  相似文献

The polyamines putrescine, cadaverine, spermine and spermidine were separated and quantified by micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC) with laser-induced fluorescence detection. The derivatization reagent, 1-pyrenebutanoic acid succinimidyl ester (PSE), allowed for the selective detection of the polyamines at 490 nm. Multiple labeling of the polyamines with PSE allows the formation of intramolecular excimers that emit at longer wavelengths (450-520 nm) than mono-labeled analytes (360-420 nm). Optimal separation of the labeled polyamines was achieved using a separation buffer consisting of 10 mM phosphate pH 7.2, 30 mM cholate, and 30% acetonitrile. Using these conditions, the four polyamines were separated in under 10 min. Limits of detection for putrescine, cadaverine, spermine and spermidine were 6, 5, 15 and 13 nM, respectively. These are superior or comparable to those previously reported in the literature using fluorescence detection.  相似文献

The mono- and di-chloroform solvates of [Au2(μ-1,2-bis(diphenylarsino)ethane)2](AsF6)2 undergo single-crystal-to-single-crystal transformations that result in gain (over 12 hours) or slow loss (over five years) of only one chloroform molecule. The change in solvation results in changes in the structure and luminescence of the digold cation. The cation consists of a pair of slightly bent As-Au-As units that are connected through the two bridging dpae ligands and by aurophilic interactions with Au⋅⋅⋅Au contacts of 3.05152(15) Å in the disolvate or 2.9570(5) Å in the monosolvate.  相似文献

Spices are a popular food of plant origin, rich in various phytochemicals and recognized for their numerous properties. The aim of the study was to evaluate the antioxidant and antimicrobial activity, as well as the content of specialized metabolites, of aqueous extracts of three spice species––garlic (Allium sativum L.), ginger (Zingiber officinalle L.) and turmeric (Curcuma longa L.)––prepared by green extraction methods. Ultrasound treatment increased the chromaticity parameter b value of turmeric and ginger extracts, thus indicating a higher yellow color predominantly due to curcuminoids characteristic of these species. Ultrasound-assisted extraction significantly increased the content of total soluble solids, phenolic compounds, total carotenoids and vitamin C. The temperature of the system was also an important factor, with the highest (70 °C) conditions in ultrasound-assisted extraction having a positive effect on thermolabile compounds (vitamin C, phenolics, total carotenoids). For example, turmeric extract treated with ultrasound at 70 °C had up to a 67% higher vitamin C content and a 69.4% higher total carotenoid content compared to samples treated conventionally at the same temperature, while ginger extracts had up to 40% higher total phenols. All different concentrations of spice extracts were not sufficient for complete inhibition of pathogenic bacterial strains of Salmonella, L. monocytogenes and S. aureus; however, only garlic extracts had an effect on slowing down the growth and number of L. monocytogenes colonies. Spice extracts obtained by ultrasonic treatment contained a significantly higher level of bioactive compounds and antioxidant capacity, suggesting that the extracts obtained have significant nutritional potential and thus a significant possibility for phytotherapeutic uses.  相似文献
