Particle size distribution of nanoparticles plays an important role in modelling many scientific and engineering problems. In this article, we proposed a Finite Volume Method (FVM) to model TiO2 nanoparticles formation using population balance equations (PBEs) by incorporating the simultaneous agglomeration and disintegration processes. The superposition of the PBEs for agglomeration and disintegration with different kernels leads to a system of partial-integro differential equations, which are numerically solved by using FVM. The precipitation of TiO2 nanoparticles in the batch reactor is studied experimentally as well as by numerical simulations based on Austin and Diemer disintegration kernels and Shear agglomeration kernel. Finally, the capability of the precipitation model is evaluated and the experimental results on particle sizes are compared with the numerical results.

The concept of immiscible displacement as an invasion percolation (IP) process driven by heat and mass transfer is used in a pore network model for convective drying of capillary porous media. The coupling between heat and mass transfer occurs at the liquid–gas interface through temperature-dependent equilibrium vapor pressure and surface tension as well as the phase change enthalpy (in evaporation and condensation). The interfacial effects due to capillary forces and gravity are combined in an invasion potential; viscous forces are neglected. Simulation results show stabilized invasion patterns and finite drying front width by the influence of gravity.  相似文献

An efficient and green approach has been developed for the synthesis of polyhydroquinoline derivatives via Hantzsch condensation reaction directly from corresponding substituted aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes, β-keto compounds, active methylene compounds, and ammonium chloride using recyclable polymer-supported sulfonic acid catalyst under aqueous conditions. Environmental acceptability, operational simplicity, low cost, excellent functional group compatibility, and high yields are the important features of this protocol.  相似文献

Intermolecular Diels-Alder reactions of 4-halo masked o-benzoquinones generated from hypervalent iodine-mediated oxidation of 4-halo-2-methoxyphenols, with electron-deficient dienophiles—methyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate and methyl vinyl ketone—leading to halo-substituted bicyclo[2.2.2]octenones, are described. The halo-benzoquinone monoketals can be isolated and characterized. The dimerization of these intermediates is not observed under the reaction conditions.  相似文献
