New approach to processing of chlorine-containing wastes: Synthesis of 2,3-dichloropropene from 1,2,3-trichloropropane

Possibilities of utilization of by-products formed in manufacture of epichlorohydrin are considered. A promising way to utilize wastes from production of epichlorohydrin by synthesis of 2,3-dichloropropene from 1,2,3-trichloropropane is suggested.     

Organoinorganic composites based on tetraethoxysilane and nitrogen polybases

Hybrid organoinorganic composites insoluble in water and organic solvents were prepared by the hydrolysis of tetraethoxysilane in the presence of poly-1-vinylpyrazole, poly-1-vinylimidazole, and poly-4-vinylpyridine. The composition of the composites was determined by the nature of the polymeric nitrogen base and hydrolysis conditions. The composites synthesized showed high sorption activity in the extraction of the [PdCl₄]^2?, [PtCl₆]^2?, and [AuCl₄]^? ions from hydrochloric acid solutions.     

Synthesis and transformations of acids of the triazole series

3,5-Di(m- and p-tolyl)-1,2,4-triazples were obtained by reaction of formalin with 2,5-ditolyl-1,3,4-oxadiazoles and subsequent hydrolysis of the resulting formyl derivatives. 3,5-Di(o-tolyl)-1,2,4-triazole cannot be obtained by this method. The oxidation of 3,5-ditolyl-1,2,4-triazoles leads to 3,5-bis(carboxyphenyl)-1,2,4-triazoles, which were converted to diesters and dihydrazides.See [1] for communication III.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 6, pp. 848–849, June, 1978.     

Sulfurization polyvinyl chloride

A sulfurized polymer comprising 57.64% of chemically bound sulfur characterizing by paramagnetism with the concentration of paramagnetic centers 2 × 10¹⁹ spins g^?1 and g-factor 2.0043 was resulted n the treatment of industrial polyvinyl chloride by elemental sulfur.     

New Methods of Synthesis of Phosphoryl and Thiophosphoryl Halides from Organylchlorophosphonium Hexachlorophosphorates

A new method of synthesis of phosphonic and thiophosphonic chlorides is offered, based on treatment of acyclic and cyclic organylchlorophosphonium hexachlorophosphorates with dimethylformamide, dimethylacetamide, or dimethylthioacetamide. The method involves no formation of phosphoryl chloride and thiophosphoryl chloride, which facilitates isolation of the target products. The reactions of alkenylchlorophosphonium hexachlorophosphorates with amides and thioamides results in incorporation of the PCl₆ ^- anion into an insoluble chloroiminium salt which is easily separated by filtration. Removal of the solvent leaves almost pure phosphonic or thiophosphonic chlorides.     

Radical copolymerization of 1,2-dichlorovinyl propyl ketone and styrene

The possibility of synthesis of soluble copolymers by radical copolymerization of 1,2-dichlorovinyl propyl ketone with styrene in the presence of azobis(isobutyronitrile) was studied. The polymerization constants were determined and the probabilities of formation of various sequences of comonomer units were evaluated. The structure of the copolymers was studied by IR and ¹³C NMR spectroscopy, and some characteristics of the copolymers were determined.     

New catalyst for the synthesis of 2-Phenyl-1,2,3-triazole

A new catalyst was developed for the synthesis of 2-phenyl-1,2,3-triazole: copper triflate Cu(OSO₂CF₃)₂. The process of cyclization of glyoxal phenylosazone in the presence of Cu(OSO₂CF₃)₂ was optimized that made it possible to increase the yield of the target product to 82%.     

Copolymerization of 1-Vinylpyrazole with Vinyl Chloride

Copolymerization of vinyl chloride with 1-vinylpyrazole was studied. The copolymerization constants were determined. The chemical structure of the copolymers was studied by NMR and IR spectroscopy.     

Gold(III) sorption with copolymers derived from divinyl sulfide

Sorption recovery of gold(III) from aqueous mineral acids with copolymers of 4-vinylpyridine and 2-methyl-5-vinylpyridine with divinyl sulfide was studied.
