A poly(vinyl chloride)-based membrane composed of dithio-tetraaza macrocyclic compound as a neutral carrier with sodium tetraphenylborate (NaTPB) as an anion excluder and nitrobenzene (NB) as plasticizer was prepared and investigated as a Th(IV)-selective electrode. The electrode exhibits a Nernstian slope of 14.2 +/- 0.3 mV per decade over a wide concentration range (1.0 x 10(-6) to 1.0 x 10(-1) M) with a detection limit of 8.0 x 10(-7) M between pH 3.5 and 9.5. The response time of the sensor is about 10 s and it can be used over a period of 5 months without any divergence in potential. The proposed membrane sensor revealed a good selectivity for Th(IV) over a wide variety of other metal ions and proved to be a better electrode in many respects than those reported in the literature. It was successfully applied as an electrode indicator as well as in the direct determination of thorium ions in standard and real samples.  相似文献

A new series of copper(II) complexes have been synthesized with macrocyclic ligands having three different donating atoms in the macrocyclic ring. It has been shown that the stereochemistry of complexes is dependent on the coordinated anions. These complexes are characterized by various physicochemical techniques, viz. elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, IR, electronic, 1H NMR and EPR spectral studies. Cyclic voltammetric behavior of the complexes has also been discussed. The observed anisotropic g-values indicate that the chloro and acetato complexes are six-coordinate tetragonal. Whereas the sulfato and nitrato complexes are found to have five-coordinate square-pyramidal and four-coordinate square-planar geometry, respectively.  相似文献

Nickel(II) complexes, having the general composition Ni(L)2X2, have been synthesized [where L: isopropyl methyl ketone semicarbazone (LLA), isopropyl methyl ketone thiosemicarbazone (LLB), 4-aminoacetophenone semicarbazone (LLC) and 4-aminoacetophenone thiosemicarbazone (LLD) and X=Cl-, 1/2SO(4)2-]. All the Ni(II) complexes reported here have been characterized by elemental analyses, magnetic moments, IR, electronic and mass spectral studies. All the complexes were found to have magnetic moments corresponding to two unpaired electrons. The possible geometries of the complexes were assigned on the basis of electronic and infrared spectral studies. Newly synthesized ligand and its nickel(II) complexes have been screened against different bacterial and fungal growth.  相似文献

Reaction of divalent cobalt(II) and trivalent ruthenium(III) salts (NO3, SCN and SO4) with macrocyclic ligands L1, L2 and L3 having N2S2, N4 and N5 core, have been designed and carry out. All these three macrocyclic ligands and their complexes were obtained in pure form. Their structures were investigated by using microanalytical analyses, IR, mass, magnetic moments, electronic and EPR spectral studies. The redox properties of the complexes were also examined by cyclic voltammetry. An interesting feature of complexes is that the relatively large rings of macrocyclic ligands prevent the macrocyclic rings from approaching the metal center as closely as they would, if they were not constrained. So the Ru-N distances are longer than expected due to ring size. Electrochemical studies show that the macrocyclic ligand L1 is more effective electron donors to ruthenium than of L2 and L3. Electronic spectral properties also show that the sulphur donor atom of L1 weakens the ligand field with respect to ligand-to-metal charge-transfer band. However it is expected that second-row transition metal-ligand bonds tend to be weaker than third-row transition metal-ligand bonds. There are well-established examples of reactions in which decreased of reactivity down a triad of transition metals is not observed. These novelties are usually attributed to pi-bonding effects for ligands such as carbon monoxide, solvent effects, or a change in mechanism.  相似文献

Manganese(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes have been synthesized with a new tetradentate ligand viz. 1,3,7,9-tetraaza-2,4,8,10-tetraketo-6,12-diphenyl-cyclododecane (L) and characterized by the elemental analysis, molar conductance measurements, magnetic susceptibility measurements, mass, 1H NMR, IR, electronic and EPR spectral studies. The molar conductance measurements of the complexes in DMF correspond to be nonelectrolytic nature for Mn(II), Co(II) and Cu(II) while 1:2 electrolytes for Ni(II) complexes. Thus, these complexes may be formulated as [M(L)X2] and [Ni(L)]X2 (where M = Mn(II), Co(II) and Cu(II) and X = Cl and NO3).On the basis of IR, electronic and EPR spectral studies an octahedral geometry has been assigned for Mn(II) and Co(II) complexes, square-planar for Ni(II) whereas tetragonal for Cu(II) complexes. The ligand and its complexes were also evaluated against the growth of bacteria and pathogenic fungi in vitro.  相似文献

The complexation of new mixed thia-aza-oxa macrocycle viz., 2,12-dithio-5,9,14,18-tetraoxo-7,16-dithia-1,3,4,10,11,13-hexaazacyclooctadecane containing thiosemicarba-zone unit with a series of transition metals Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) has been investigated, by different spectroscopic techniques. The structural features of the ligand have been studied by EI-mass, (1)H NMR and IR spectral techniques. Elemental analyses, magnetic moment susceptibility, molar conductance, IR, electronic, and EPR spectral studies characterized the complexes. Electronic absorption and IR spectra of the complexes indicate octahedral geometry for chloro, nitrato, thiocyanato or acetato complexes. The dimeric and neutral nature of the sulphato complexes are confirmed from magnetic susceptibility and low conductance values. Electronic spectra suggests square-planar geometry for all sulphato complexes. The redox behaviour was studied by cyclic voltammetry, show metal-centered reduction processes for all complexes. The complexes of copper show both oxidation and reduction process. The redox potentials depend on the conformation of central atom in the macrocyclic complexes. Newly synthesized macrocyclic ligand and its transition metal complexes show markedly growth inhibitory activity against pathogenic bacterias and plant pathogenic fungi under study. Most of the complexes have higher activity than that of the metal free ligand.  相似文献

Manganese(II) complexes having the general composition Mn(L)2X2 (where L = 3‐bromoacetophenone semicarbazone, 3‐bromoacetophenone thiosemicarbazone, 1‐tetralone semicarbazone, 1‐tetralone thiosemicarbazone, flavanone semicarbazone or flavanone thiosemicarbazone and X = Cl? or ½SO42?) were synthesized. All the complexes were characterized using elemental analyses, molar conductance and magnetic moment measurements, and mass, 1H NMR, infrared, electron paramagnetic resonance and electronic spectral studies. The molar conductance of the complexes in dimethylsulfoxide lies in the range 10–20 Ω?1 cm2 mol?1 indicating their non‐electrolytic nature. All the complexes show magnetic moments corresponding to five unpaired electrons. The possible geometries of the complexes were assigned on the basis of electron paramagnetic resonance, electronic and infrared spectral studies. Some of the synthesized ligands and their complexes were screened for their antifungal activities against fungi Macrophomina phaseolina, Botrytis cinerea and Phoma glomerata using the food poison technique and their antibacterial activities against Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris and Ralstonia solanacearum using the paper disc diffusion method. They showed appreciable activities.  相似文献

Transition metal complexes of Mn(II) and Ni(II) have been synthesized with novel bioactive Schiff's base ligand. Schiff's base ligand i.e. benzoylacetone‐bis(2‐amino‐4‐methylbenzothioazole) has been synthesized via condensation reaction between 2‐amino‐4‐methylbenzothioazole and benzoylacetone in 2:1 ratio, respectively. Synthesized ligand has been characterized using elemental analysis, infra‐red, 1H–NMR and mass spectroscopy techniques. Characterization of complexes was based on magnetic moment, molar conductance, elemental analysis, electronic spectra, infra‐red and EPR spectroscopic techniques. Molar conductance data suggest that metal complexes are non‐electrolytic in nature. Therefore, these complexes are formulated as [M(L)X2], where M = Mn(II), Ni(II), L = Schiff's base ligand, X = Cl?, CH3COO?, NO3?. Data of characterization study suggest octahedral geometry for Mn(II) and Ni(II) complexes. Geometry of metal complexes was also optimized with the help of computational study i.e. molecular modelling. Computational study also suggests octahedral geometry for complexes. Free ligand as well as its all metal complexes have been screened against the growth of pathogenic bacteria (E.coli, S.aureus) and fungi (C.albicans, C.krusei, C.parapsilosis, C.tropicalis) to assess their inhibition potential. The inhibition data revealed that metal complexes exhibit higher inhibition potential against the growth of bacteria and fungi microorganisms than free ligand.  相似文献

Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) complexes have been synthesized with benzil bis(thiosemicarbazone) (L) and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance measurements, magnetic susceptibility measurements, thermogravimetric studies, infrared (IR), electronic, and electron paramagnetic resonance (eEPR) spectral studies. The molar conductance measurements of the complexes in DMF correspond to the non-electrolytic nature of the complexes. Thus these complexes may be formulated as [M(L)X2] (where M = Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and X = Cl? and NO3 ?). On the basis of IR, electronic, and EPR spectral studies, an octahedral geometry has been assigned for Mn(II), Co(II), and Ni(II) complexes, whereas a tetragonal geometry for the Cu(II) complexes is presumed. The free ligand and its metal complexes were tested against the phytopathogenic fungi (i.e., Rhizoctonia baticola, Alternaria alternata) in vitro.  相似文献

Eight new macrocyclic ligands have been prepared by the reaction of the precursor diketone (benzil, glyoxal, diacetyl or 2,3-pentanedione) with a diamine (thiosemicarbazide or semicarbazide). Copper(II) complexes of these ligands have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, i.r., u.v.–vis, 1H-n.m.r., mass and e.p.r. spectral studies. Mass, n.m.r. and i.r. data indicate the condensation of the diamine and diketone and the whole molecular ion structure. g-Values are calculated for all of the complexes in polycrystalline form as well as in DMSO solution. Spin Hamiltonian values and bonding parameters have also been calculated which indicates that an unpaired electron is present in the orbital. The metal-ligand bonding parameters shows strong in-plane σ sigma and in-plane π bonding. The magnetic and spectral data indicate tetragonal geometry for all of the complexes except [CuH2L4]Cl2 and [CuH2L4]Cl2 which are square planar. From c.v. data reversible CuII/CuI couples are observed for these complexes. The macrocyclic complexes show more antibacterial and antiviral activity as compared to the ligands. The antibacterial activities of the compounds were tested against S. aureus, S. subtillis and E. coli.  相似文献
