The instability of the plane interface between two uniform, superposed, electrically conducting and counter-streaming fluids through a porous medium is considered in the presence of a horizontal magnetic field. In the absence of surface tension, perturbations transverse to the direction of streaming are found to be unaffected by the presence of streaming if perturbations in the direction of streaming are ignored. For perturbations in all other directions there exists instability for a certain wavenumber range. The instability of this system is postponed by the presence of magnetic field. The magnetic field and surface tension are able to suppress this Kelvin-Helmholtz instability for small wavelength perturbations and the medium porosity reduces the stability range given in terms of a difference between the streaming velocities and the Alfvén velocity.This research forms a part of the research project awarded to the first author (R.C.S.) by the University Grants Commission. 相似文献

We analyze the spectra of pions and protons in heavy-ion collisions at relativistic energies from 2 A GeV to 65+65 A GeV by
using a jet-implemented hadron-string cascade model. In this energy region, hadron transverse mass spectra first show softening
until SPS energies, and re-hardening may emerge at RHIC energies. Since hadronic matter is expected to show only softening
at higher energy densities, this re-hardening of spectra can be interpreted as a good signature of the quark-gluon plasma

The carrier technique has been used to concentrate Cr(VI) radiometrically by studying the carrying efficiency as a function of pH of aqueous medium, added ions, carrying capacity, amount of carrier and subsequent desorption of the activity adsorbed under optimum experimental conditions. The study shows that under optimum experimental conditions, 0.15 g of ZrO2 and 0.25 g of TiO2 carry 0.01 mg and 0.001 mg of chromium respectively. Further, the activity carried under the specified conditions can be recovered more or less quantitatively by leaching the carrier. 相似文献

Triorganotin(IV) and triorganolead(IV) derivatives of the types Me3Sn(SCZ) and Ph3Pb(SCZ) (where SCZ? is the anion of a semicarbanzone ligand) have been synthesized by substitution reactions of trimethyltin chloride and triphenyl-lead chloride with semicarbazones derived from heterocyclic ketones. The resulting complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, molecualr weight determinations and conductivity measurements. The mode of bonding has been established on the basis of infrared and 1H, 13C and 119Sn NMR spectroscopic studies. Some respresentative complexes have also been evaluated for their antimicrobial effects on different species of pathogenic fungi and bacteria; the results of these investigations have been reported in the present paper. 相似文献

AbstractFew conversions cannot take place with ground-state reactions even with the help of a catalyst, therefore they are made to occur under photochemical conditions. The transfer of electrons took place even with the photochemical excitement of one molecule where redox reaction cannot occur at the ground state. The ground-state reactions resulted in the formation of side products. The substrates did not require any sort of chemical activation for C–N bond construction in the course of photochemical reactions. The source of energy; light has always been the interest of researchers in order to induce chemical reactions ever since the starting of scientific chemistry. The present review encloses the chemistry of photochemical transformations with a focus on their synthetic uses. The organic photochemical reactions prevent the polluting or harmful reagents thus, provides a possibility for sustainable procedures as well as green chemistry. A convenient method for the two-step synthesis of arenediynes from 1,2-arenedialdehydes is reported. Dibromomethylenation of dialdehydes under Corey-Fuchs conditions (CBr4, Ph3P, Zn) provides the tetrabromides in excellent yields. Treatment of the tetrabromides with n-BuLi or LDA affords 3,4-unsaturated 1,5-diynes, the key structural moiety present in several naturally occurring antitumour antibiotics, in varying yields. The key intermediates in these transformations appear to be vinylidenecarbenes or carbenoids, generated in situ via metal-halogen exchange and elimination. 相似文献

Kinetics of polymerization of acrylamide initiated by Thallium(III) perchlorate was investigated in aqueous perchloric acid medium in the temperature range of 55–70°C. The rates of polymerization were measured varying the concentration of the monomer, initiator, and perchloric acid. The rate of polymerization was found to increase with increase of temperature, monomer concentration, initiator concentration, and perchloric acid concentration. The effect of additives like different solvents, surfactants, and retarders on the rate of polymerization was studied. Molecular weights of the polymer were determined by viscometry. The chain transfer constants for the monomer (CM) and that for the solvent dioxan (Cs) were calculated to be 7.33 × 10?3 and 6.66 × 10?3, respectively. From the Arrhenius plot, the overall activation energy (Ea) was calculated to be 10.68 kcal/mol. The energy of initiation was calculated to be 12.36 kcal/mol. Depending on the results obtained, a suitable reaction mechanism has been suggested and a rate equation has been derived. 相似文献
