The kinetics of oxidation of amino acids (Arg, His, Lys, Phe, Thr and Tyr), a dipeptide (Gly-His), and BSA (bovine serum albumin) by two persistent water soluble free radicals of the hydrazyl type has been studied.The rate decreases in the order Arg>Lys>Tyr>Thr>HisBSAPheGly-His with bothfree radicals. Addition to the reaction mixture of - and -cyclodextrin decreases the oxidation rate, probably due to amino acidencapsulation in the cyclodextrin cavity. -Cyclodextrin protects more efficiently against oxidation than -cyclodextrin. 相似文献

We have used a variety of microscopic techniques to reveal the structure and motion of flux line arrangements, when the flux
lines in low T
c type II superconductors are caused to move by a transport current. Using small-angle neutron scattering by the flux line
lattice (FLL), we are able to demonstrate directly the alignment by motion of the nearest-neighbor FLL direction. This tends
to be parallel to the direction of flux line motion, as had been suspected from two-dimensional simulations. We also see the
destruction of the ordered FLL by plastic flow and the bending of flux lines. Another technique that our collaboration has
employed is the direct measurement of flux line motion, using the ultra-high-resolution spectroscopy of the neutron spin-echo
technique to observe the energy change of neutrons diffracted by moving flux lines. The muon spin rotation (μSR) technique gives the distribution of values of magnetic field within the FLL. We have recently succeeded in performing
μSR measurements while the FLL is moving. Such measurements give complementary information about the local speed and orientation
of the FLL motion. We conclude by discussing the possible application of this technique to thin film superconductors. 相似文献

The local environment dictates the structural and functional properties of many important chemical and biological systems. The impact of pH on the photophysical properties of a series of para-aminobenzoic acids is examined using a combination of experimental spectroscopy and quantum chemical calculations. Following photoexcitation, PABA derivatives may undergo an intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) resulting in the formation of a zwitterionic species. The thermodynamics of the excited state reaction and temperature-dependence of the radiative emission processes are evaluated through variable temperature fluorescence spectroscopy carried out in a range of aqueous buffers. Quantum chemical calculations are used to analyze structural changes with modifications at the amine position and different protonation states. The ICT is only observed in the tertiary amine, which calculations show has more sp(2) character than the primary or secondary amines. Thermodynamic analysis indicates the ICT reaction is driven by entropy. 相似文献

Herein we report the discovery that two bottleable, neutral, base‐stabilized diborane(5) compounds are able to bind strongly to a number of copper(I) complexes exclusively through their B?B bond. The resulting complexes represent the first known complexes containing unsupported, neutral σB?B diborane ligands. Single‐crystal X‐ray analyses of these complexes show that the X?Cu moiety (X=Cl, OTf, C6F5) lies opposite the bridging hydrogen atom of the diborane and is near perpendicular to the B?B bond, interacting almost equally with both boron atoms and causing a B?B bond elongation. DFT studies show that σ donation from and π backdonation to the pseudo‐π‐like B?B bond account for their formation. Astoundingly, these copper σB?B complexes are inert to ligand exchange with pyridine under either heating or photoirradiation. 相似文献

Five compounds containing boron–boron multiple bonds are shown to undergo hydrophosphination reactions with diphenylphosphine in the absence of a catalyst. With diborenes, the products obtained are highly dependent on the substitution pattern at the boron atoms, with both 1,1- and 1,2-hydrophosphinations observed. With a symmetrical diboryne, 1,2-hydrophosphination yields a hydro(phosphino)diborene. The different mechanistic pathways for the hydrophosphination of diborenes are rationalised with the aid of density functional theory calculations.Compounds containing boron–boron double and triple bonds are shown to undergo uncatalysed hydrophosphination reactions with diphenylphosphine. 相似文献

This paper describes the investigation of the potential of a quadrupole orthogonal acceleration time-of-flight mass spectrometer (Q-TOF) equipped with an atmospheric pressure ionisation interface for quantitative measurements of small molecules separated by reversed phase liquid chromatography. To this end, the detection limits and linear dynamic range in particular were studied in an LC/MS/MS experiment using 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine standards and 3,4-methylenedioxyethylamphetamine for internal standardisation. In a second phase, the experiment was repeated with real biological extracts (whole blood, serum, and vitreous humour). A calibration for 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine and its metabolite 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine was prepared in each of these matrices again using 3,4-methylenedioxyethylamphetamine as internal standard. The resulting quantitative data were compared with those obtained by liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection for the same extracts. The Q-TOF results revealed excellent sensitivity and a linear dynamic range of nearly four decades (2-10 000 pg on-column, r(2) = 0.9998, 1/x weighting). Furthermore, all the calibration curves prepared in biological material were superimposable, LC/MS/MS and LC-fluorescence, and the quantitative results for actual samples compared very favourably. It was concluded that the Q-TOF achieves a linear dynamic range for quantitative LC/MS/MS work exceeding that of fluorescence detection and at much better absolute sensitivity. The necessity to immobilise waste safely requires the development of stable materials. Mössbauer spectroscopy has been used to help understand and obtain desirable properties in alkali borosilicate glasses, phosphate glasses and vitrified sewage sludge ash. Phosphate glasses suitable for waste immobilisation have been microwaved and conventionally melted and differences reported. The environment of Fe in promising ceramics has also been studied. Mössbauer studies of irradiated vitrified wasteforms show their resistance to radiation damage. 相似文献

The simultaneous application of high pressure and high temperature has been used to achieve direct ion exchange of large cesium cations for the small sodium cations found in the zeolite natrolite by putting it into a superhydrated state with increased pore size. The larger cations remain trapped upon pressure release, and thus, this method is a means of producing new cationic forms of zeolites. 相似文献
