Europium (Eu+) ions were confined in a Paul trap and detected by non-destructive method. Storage time of Eu+ ions achieved in vacuum was improved by orders of magnitude employing buffer gas cooling. The experimentally detected signal
was fitted to the ion response signal and the total number of ions trapped was estimated. It is found that the peak signal
amplitude as well as the product of FWHM and the peak signal amplitude is proportional to the total number of trapped ions.
The trapped ion secular frequency was swept at different rates and its effect on the absorption line profile was studied both

The micellization behavior of an anionic gemini surfactant, GA with nonionic surfactants C12E8 and C12E5 in presence of 0.1 M NaCl at 298 K temperature, has been studied tensiometrically in pure and mixed states, and the related
physicochemical parameters (cmc, γ
cmc, pC

max, and A
min) have been evaluated. Tensiometric profile (γ vs log [surfactant]), for conventional surfactants, generally consists of a single point of intersection; a gradually decreasing
line (normally linear, or with slight curvature) ultimately saturates in γ at a particular [surfactant], corresponding to complete monolayer saturation. The gemini, in this report, led to two unequivocal
breaks in the tensiometric isotherm. An attempt to the interpretation of the two breaks from molecular point of view is provided,
depending solely on the chemical structure of the surfactant. The gemini, even in mixed state with the conventional nonionic
surfactants C12E5 and C12E8, manifested the dual breaks; of course, the dominance of the feature decreases with increasing mole fraction of the nonionics
in the mixture. Theories of Clint, Rosen, Rubingh, Motomura, Georgiev, Maeda, and Nagarajan have been used to determine the
interaction between surfactants at the interface and micellar state of aggregation, the composition of the aggregates, the
theoretical cmc in pure and mixed states, and the structural parameters according to Tanford and Israelachvili. Several thermodynamic

Differential scanning calorimetry has been applied to the study of the solid system cross-linked polyvinylpyrrolidone/trimethoprim.Different results have been systematically obtained on co-ground and not co-ground mixtures, suggesting some type of interaction to take place between components as a consequence of co-grinding.A simple phenomenological model of the interaction is proposed, which quite satisfactorily agrees with thermal data.

Ein einfaches phänomenologisches Modell dieser Wechselwirkung wird vorgeschlagen, das mit thermischen Daten befriedigend übereinstimmt.

Glucose is a key biomedical analyte, especially relevant to the management of diabetes. Current methods for glucose determination rely on the enzyme glucose oxidase, requiring specialist instrumentation and suffering from redox-active interferents. In a new approach, a powerful and highly selective achiral glucose receptor is mixed with a sample, l-glucose is added, and the induced CD spectrum is measured. The CD signal results from competition between the enantiomers, and is used to determine the d-glucose content. The involvement of l-glucose doubles the signal range from the CD spectrometer and allows sensitivity to be adjusted over a wide dynamic range. It also negates medium effects, which must be equal for both enantiomers. The method has been demonstrated with human serum, pre-filtered to remove proteins, giving results which closely match the standard biochemical procedures, as well as a cell culture medium and a beer sample containing high (70 mM) and low (0.4 mM) glucose concentrations respectively.A highly selective receptor, circular dichroism and chiral competition are combined in this versatile method for d-glucose analysis. 相似文献

Membrane modification is one of the critical approaches needed for the development of membrane science and technology. The beauty of research in this orientation is that it is a dynamic process that moves forward slowly and recommendations are made based on the science available. In this regard sulfonation of polysulfones is an excellent move. The present review demonstrates different sulfonation strategies of polysulfones as well as promoting applications in pressure driven separation sciences (viz. salt, macromolecule, organic separation from water).
