A Facile Synthesis of Trifluoroacetaldehyde by Electroreduction Of Cf3Br In Dimethylformamide

Trifluoroacetaldehyde, isolated as CF₃CH(OCOCH₃)₂, is obtained in high yield by electroreduction of CF₃Br in DMF, using an undivided cell and a sacrificial aluminium anode.     

Late‐Stage Isotopic Carbon Labeling of Pharmaceutically Relevant Cyclic Ureas Directly from CO2

A robust, click‐chemistry‐inspired procedure for radiolabeling of cyclic ureas was developed. This protocol, suitable for all carbon isotopes (¹¹C, ¹³C, ¹⁴C), is based on the direct functionalization of carbon dioxide: the universal building block for carbon radiolabeling. The strategy is operationally simple and reproducible in different radiochemistry centers, exhibits remarkably wide substrate scope with short reaction times, and demonstrates superior reactivity as compared to previously reported systems. With this procedure, a variety of pharmaceuticals and an unprotected peptide were labeled with high radiochemical efficiency.     

The relative importance of the electron and of the spin interaction with the lattice for a Peierls transition

The relative importance of the electron and of the spin coupling to the lattice is investigated as mechanisms producing a Peierls transition. Using mean field theory and an exponential dependence of transfer integrals on the degree of dimerization, it is found that the spin lattice interaction makes the most important contribution to the lattice distortion for the metallic phase of the highly correlated quasi-one-dimensional electron system where partially localized magnetic moments are still present.
