Formation of a new carbon-carbon bond by the reaction of β-haloalkyl aryl thioethers with allylsilanes

Conclusions -Chloroalkyl axyl thioethers, which are the adducts of alkenes or alkoxyaikenes with, arylsulfenyl chlorides, are capable of alkylating trimethylallylsilane to form a new C-C bond. New potentialities of electrophilic addition in the assembly of polyfunctional compounds from simple precursors

A novel methodology of the multicomponent coupling based on the controlled sequence of the kinetically independent electrophilic additions is suggested and its promise as an efficient protocol for the short synthesis of the structurally diverse polyfunctional compounds from simple precursors is demonstrated.     

Mechanical Unfolding of a Homopolymer Globule: Applied Force versus Applied Deformation

We propose the quantitative mean-field theory of mechanical unfolding of a globule formed by long flexible homopolymer chain collapsed in poor solvent and subjected to an extensional force We show that with an increase in the applied force the globule unfolds as a whole without formation of an intermediate state. The value of the threshold force and the corresponding jump in the distance between chain ends increase with a deterioration of the solvent quality and / or with an increase in the degree of polymerization. This way of globule unfolding is compared with that in the D-ensemble, when the distance between chain ends is imposed.     

Synthesis of nanodispersed anatase by tetrabutoxy titanium hydrolysis

Nanodispersed titanium oxyhydrate was obtained by tetrabutoxy titanium hydrolysis in the presence of a chelating agent, acetylacetone. The introduction of a chelating agent to tetrabutoxy titanium hydrolysis in a water–ethanol mixture allows one to control the hydrolysis rate. According to X-ray powder diffraction data, amorphous titanium oxyhydrate after annealing at 400°C transforms to anatase, the crystallites of which are 6.2–8.4 nm in size. Transmission electron microscopy showed that the anatase particles are close to spheres 5–9 nm in diameter. The amorphous materials were studied by differential thermal analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, and mass spectrometric analysis of released gases. The benzene adsorption by the produced materials was determined. The nitrogen adsorption isotherms of two samples were constructed, and the specific surface area of the anatase particles and the pore size were found (148.5 and 98 m²/g, and 4.4 and 4.0 nm, respectively).     

Modeling of O-X-B conversion of electromagnetic radiation in tokamak plasmas

Linear conversion of the ordinary wave to the extraordinary wave and then to the Bernstein wave (O-X-B conversion) in a tokamak plasma is considered in the generalized geometric-optical approximation taking into account the relativistic effects in a dielectric permitivity tensor. Using the T-10 tokamak as an example, it is shown that even for a relatively low plasma temperature (about 1 keV at the plasma-column center) relativistic effects exert a notable influence on the cyclotron absorption of Bernstein waves. Power deposition profiles for O-X-B plasma heating are determined. Reaction sequence arylsulfenyl chloride + alkoxyalkene-I + alkoxyalkene-II + allylmagnesium or boron derivatives as a new method for the controlled synthesis of polyfunctional derivatives
