[reaction: see text] Glucuronyl iodide 1 has been studied in detail as a "disarmed" glycosyl donor. In a model reaction, using N-iodosuccinimide (NIS) as a promoter and 2-phenylethanol as acceptor, best results were obtained using NIS with I(2), followed by trimethylsilyltrifluoromethanesulfonate (TMSOTf). When a series of primary and secondary alcohols was glycosylated using these conditions, yields of 60-83% of beta-glucuronides were obtained. Various "nonheavy" metal salts also effectively catalyzed the model reaction but led to significant amounts of alpha-product with less reactive secondary alcohols.  相似文献

The diffusive behavior of ethane and ethylene in single-walled carbon nanotubes is investigated using classical molecular dynamics simulations and density functional theory calculations. At low molecular densities, these nonspherical molecules follow a spiral path inside nanotubes with diameters of 13-22 A, which maximizes the interaction of molecular C-C bonds with the C-C bonds in the nanotubes. Spherical molecules, such as methane, are not predicted to follow a spiral diffusion path. This result quantifies the manner in which molecular shape and chemical bonding affects molecule-nanotube interactions and indicates the generality of spherical transport through nanotubes.  相似文献

A wide variety of gas phase ions with kinetic energies from 1–107 eV increasingly are being used for the growth and modification of state-of-the-art material interfaces. Ions can be used to deposit thin films; expose fresh interfaces by sputtering; grow mixed interface layers from ions, ambient neutrals, and/or surface atoms; modify the phases of interfaces; dope trace elements into interface regions; impart specific chemical functionalities to a surface; toughen materials; and create micron- and nanometer-scale interface structures. Several examples are developed which demonstrate the variety of technologically important interface modification that is possible with gas phase ions. These examples have been selected to demonstrate how the choice of the ion and its kinetic energy controls modification and deposition for several different materials. Examples are drawn from experiments, computer simulations, fundamental research, and active technological applications. Finally, a list of research areas is provided for which ion–surface modification promises considerable scientific and technological advances in the new millennium.  相似文献

Overtone spectrum of o, m and p-nitrobenzaldehydes and p-chlorobenzaldehyde has been studied in 2000–12000 cm−1 region. Vibrational frequencies and anharmonicity constants for aryl as well as alkyl CH stretch vibrations have been determined. We have also determined the internuclear distances for the aryl CH bond in the different molecules. The small variation observed in these distances is an indication of the substitution effect. It is observed that in the case of p-disubstituted benzens, the shift in aryl CH bond is proportional to sum of the Hammet σ of the substituents. However in the case of o-disubstituted benzenes it is only 80% of the para-substituted shift.  相似文献

Humans were trained to categorize problem non-native phonemes using an animal psychoacoustic procedure that trains monkeys to greater than 90% correct in phoneme identification [Sinnott and Gilmore, Percept. Psychophys. 66, 1341-1350 (2004)]. This procedure uses a manual left versus right response on a lever, a continuously repeated stimulus on each trial, extensive feedback for errors in the form of a repeated correction procedure, and training until asymptotic levels of performance. Here, Japanese listeners categorized the English liquid contrast /r-l/, and English listeners categorized the Middle Eastern dental-retroflex contrast /d-D/. Consonant-vowel stimuli were constructed using four talkers and four vowels. Native listeners and phoneme contrasts familiar to all listeners were included as controls. Responses were analyzed using percent correct, response time, and vowel context effects as measures. All measures indicated nativelike Japanese perception of /r-l/ after 32 daily training sessions, but this was not the case for English perception of /d-D/. Results are related to the concept of "robust" (more easily recovered) versus "fragile" (more easily lost) phonetic contrasts [Burnham, Appl. Psycholing. 7, 207-240 (1986)].  相似文献

Cross-language research using synthetic voice-onset-time series over the past 40 years suggests that the Spanish lead contrast is acoustically less salient than the English lag contrast. This study examined monkey identification of a labial consonant-vowel voice-onset-time (CV VOT) series (-60 to +70 ms) in order to obtain a linguistically unbiased estimate of lead versus lag salience. Comparisons were made with both English and Spanish adult human listeners. In a classic two-choice identification test, monkey and Spanish functions were quite variable and showed evidence of sensitivity to three types of voicing cues (lead versus simultaneous versus lag). In contrast, English functions were highly categorical and showed sensitivity to only two types of cues (combined lead/simultaneous versus lag). Next, listeners were explicitly trained via feedback to differentiate stimuli crossing lead and lag boundaries. Here, monkey and Spanish performance was initially more symmetrical than English performance, with the latter showing reduced sensitivity to the lead boundary, but group differences disappeared after extended training. These results provide evidence for perceptual loss in English listeners for aspects of Spanish voicing lead perception.  相似文献

The effect of polarizability of cation dopants on oxygen diffusion in δ-Bi2O3 is determined using molecular-dynamics simulation in which the polarizability of the ions is treated within the shell model. It is found that the magnitude of the oxygen polarizability has no affect on diffusion. However, the high cation polarizability, associated with the lone pair of electrons in Bi, is found to be the key to achieving sustained oxygen diffusion. Consistent with earlier experimental results, the oxygen diffusion path is found to be between oxygen equilibrium sites, which are displaced from the 8c oxygen sites of the fluorite lattice.  相似文献
