Effect of trapping centers of luminescent properties of bismuth orthogermanate

Copper(II) Chelate Complex with N′-(2,4-Dichlorophenoxy)acetyl-N,N-Dimethylhydrazine: Crystal and Molecular Structure

X-ray diffraction analysis of the copper(II) chelate complex CuL₂ (where L is the deprotonated imid-ol form of N,N-dimethyl-2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetohydrazide (HL)) was performed (3826 reflections, R = 0.039, wR = 0.043). Crystals are monoclinic, a = 8.365(7) Å, b = 23.090(7)Å, c = 12.713(3) Å, = 95.12(6)°, space group P2₁/c, Z = 4. The slightly distorted square environment of the copper cation is composed of two N atoms of the dimethylamino groups and two O atoms of the deprotonated imidol groups. Both N and O atoms are located in trans-positions relative to each other. Additional coordination of electron-donor atoms is prevented by methyl groups, in which the C atoms are at a distance of 2.837 to 2.918 Å from the central ion.     

ESR spectra of copper(ii) complexes with 2-hydroxy-5-methyl- and 5-chloro-2-hydroxyacetophenone acyldihydrazones

ESR spectra of binuclear copper(ii) complexes with 2-hydroxy-5-methyl- and 5-chloro-2-hydroxyacetophenone acyldihydrazones (H₄L) [Cu₂L·2Py], in which the coordination polyhedra are linked by the polymethylene chain with different lengths (from one to five units), were studied. The spectra of the complexes based on acyldihydrazones of malonic, succinic, glutaric, and adipic acids exhibit weak exchange interactions between the paramagnetic sites. These interactions induce seven HFS lines from two equivalent copper nuclei with the constant 40·10^–4 cm^–1 in the ESR spectra of liquid solutions. An increase in the polymethylene chain length to five units prevents the exchange interactions, and the ESR spectrum of the complex based on heptadioic acyldihydrazone contains the signal of four HFS lines with the constant 72·10^–4 cm^–1, which is common for the copper(ii) monomeric compounds.     

Time-Resolved Vacuum Ultraviolet Spectroscopy of Er<Superscript>3+</Superscript> Ions in the SrF<Subscript>2</Subscript> Crystal

The photoluminescence and photoexcitation spectra as well as the luminescence decay kinetics of Er³⁺ ions in the visible ultraviolet and vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) regions have been studied by the method of low-temperature, time-resolved VUV-spectroscopy on excitation by synchrotron radiation. In the VUV spectral region of the luminescence of SrF₂:1% Er³⁺, the 146.5-nm band with a time of decay of less than 0.6 nsec was revealed together with the well-known emission band at 164.3 nm (decay constant in the microsecond range). Its possible nature is discussed. The specific features of the formation of photoexcitation spectra of the f-f and f-d transitions in the Er³⁺ ion are considered. Competition between the processes of excitation of f-f and d-f luminescence has been revealed. It manifests itself in the inverse relationship of their photoexcitation spectra in a range of energies of incident photons that are close to the position of the 4fⁿ⁻¹5d configuration levels. __________ Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Spektroskopii, Vol. 72, No. 4, pp. 519–523, July–August, 2005.
