Clinical interest in laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) spectroscopy and photodynamic therapy (PDT) is growing rapidly and may ultimately lead to close parallel use of these techniques. However, variations in LIF due to photosensitizer retention as well as tissue damage and healing processes may interfere with autofluorescence-based diagnostic methods. We have investigated the compatibility of these two techniques by quantifying PDT-induced changes in LIF in the human esophagus. Fluorescence spectra were collected endoscopically at excitation wavelengths (lambda ex) of 337, 400 and 410 nm in 32 patients. Measurements were performed immediately before and after PDT treatment with porfimer sodium and during follow-up procedures. In the months following PDT regions of reepithelialized squamous showed reduced autofluorescence in comparison with untreated squamous regions (P = 0.0007). Photosensitizer fluorescence was undetectable with lambda ex = 337 nm during follow-up procedures, whereas for lambda ex = 400 and 410 nm porfimer sodium fluorescence was noted for nearly a year after treatment. Therefore, residual photosensitizer fluorescence is likely to affect certain LIF-based diagnostic techniques during a period when patients are at high risk for tumor recurrence. Modification of LIF systems and/or the use of alternative photosensitizers may be required to optimize the detection of lesions in the post-PDT patient. Given the potential of LIF as a method for surveillance following cancer therapy, further investigation of the compatibility of specific LIF approaches with cancer pharmaceuticals may be warranted.  相似文献

The relaxation of rabbit aorta rings induced by low-power laser radiation was investigated in vitro to determine the location of the chromophore(s) responsible for this response and evaluate possible mechanisms. An action spectrum for relaxation was measured on rabbit thoracic aorta rings precontracted with norepinephrine. The decrease in isometric tension was measured during exposure to laser light (351–625 nm) delivered via a fiber optic to a small spot on the adventitial surface. The shortest UV wavelength (351 nm) was 35-fold more effective than 390 nm and 1700-fold more effective than 460 nm. Ultraviolet wavelengths also produced greater maximum relaxation (0.40–0.45) than visible wavelengths (0.20–0.25), suggesting that photovasorelaxation involves more than one chromophore.
The adventitial layer was not necessary for photovasorelaxation, indicating that the light is absorbed by a chromophore in the medial layer. The same degree of relaxation was obtained on rings without adventitia when either one-half of the ring, or a small spot was irradiated indicating that communication between smooth muscle cells spreads a signal from the area illuminated to the entire ring.
The mechanism for photovasorelaxation was investigated using potential inhibitors. N -monomethyl-l-arginine and N -amino-L-arginine, inhibitors of nitric oxide synthase, did not alter photovasorelaxation nor did indomethacin, an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase, and zinc protoporphyrin, an inhibitor of heme oxygenase.  相似文献

The production of 90Y by 90Sr-90Y generator was studied. 90Sr was adsorbed on a column with Aminex A-5 resin. The daughter radionuclide 90Y was eluted with 0.7M -hydroxyisobutyrate (-HIB, pH 5.4). Radionuclidic, radiochemical and chemical purities were >98% and yield >85%. After converting into chloride form 90YCl3-solution (pH:1) was used for preparing injectable yttrium citrate and labeling some other radiopharmaceuticals. Furthermore, a fast ITLC-method for the determination of 90Sr in 90Y-eluate was developed.  相似文献

In the last few decades, text mining has been used to extract knowledge from free texts. Applying neural networks and deep learning to natural language processing (NLP) tasks has led to many accomplishments for real-world language problems over the years. The developments of the last five years have resulted in techniques that have allowed for the practical application of transfer learning in NLP. The advances in the field have been substantial, and the milestone of outperforming human baseline performance based on the general language understanding evaluation has been achieved. This paper implements a targeted literature review to outline, describe, explain, and put into context the crucial techniques that helped achieve this milestone. The research presented here is a targeted review of neural language models that present vital steps towards a general language representation model.  相似文献
