Simulation of interaction between a rarefied gas jet and an obstacle by the methods of molecular dynamics

An efficient method of direct numerical simulation is proposed. The steady-state flow field generated by the impingement of a gas jet on a wall is studied as an example. The numerical results obtained during this study are in good agreement with the numerical solutions of other authors.

Researches on furans

It is found that, unlike 2-chloromethylfuran, 2-(-chloropropyl)furan reacts with sodium cyanide in dimethylformamide to give a mixture of isomeric nitriles consisting of-(2-furyl)-butyronitrile and 5-propylpyromuconitrile. The structures of the acids obtained by hydrolysis of these nitriles, are confirmed by retrosynthesis.For Part XLII see [2].     

Phase and extraction equilibria in the antipirin-pyrocatechol-water system

Solubility isotherms of the antipirin-pyrocatechol-water ternary system at 25 and 50°C were constructed. A field where two liquid phases are present in equilibrium which results from the protolytic interaction between the components was revealed. The various-composition chemical compounds that formed were isolated preparatively. Interphase distribution of a series of metal ions was studied. The half-extraction pHs of rare-earth metals were found to be linearly related to their ionic radii.     

Physicochemical Properties of 1,2-Diacylhydrazines Derived from Aliphatic Carboxylic Acids

The solubility and resistance to oxidation and hydrolysis of 1,2-diacylhydrazines derived from acetic, propionic, butyric, and valeric acids were studied in view of possible application of these compounds for concentrating nonferrous metals. The pK ₁ and pK ₂ values of the 1,2-diacylhydrazines were determined. The stability of conformers and the electron density distribution in the coordination-active moiety were estimated by SCF MO LCAO semiempirical calculations in the MNDO-PM3 approximation.
