On decomposition of continuity

Summary The main purpose of this paper is to introduce the concepts of η-sets, ηζ-sets,η-continuity and ηζ-continuity and to obtain a decomposition of continuity.     

Synthesis and Reactions of Some New Pyrrolylfuro[2,3‐d]Pyrimidines and Pyrrolopyrazinofuropyrimidines

5‐Amino‐4‐methyl‐2‐phenyl‐6‐substitutedfuro[2,3‐d]pyrimidines ( 2a‐c ) were reacted with 2,5‐dimethoxytetrahydrfuran to afford the pyrrolyl derivatives 3a‐c . Compound 3a was chosen as intermediate for the synthesis of poly fused heterocycles incorporated furopyrimidines moiety 4–11 . Some of the synthesized compounds were screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activities.     

Controlling a bunch of multiple filaments by means of a beam diameter

We demonstrate a three orders of magnitude increase and stability in the backscattered fluorescence signal from nitrogen molecules by terawatt femtosecond laser pulse induced air filaments using a new method. The method is based on squeezing the initial beam diameter using a telescope. The effect of laser shot-to-shot fluctuations was included in numerical simulations by a random distribution of the initial intensity in both squeezed and non-squeezed beams. Statistical processing of the simulation results shows that the average diameter of plasma channels as well as the total amount of free electrons generated in a bunch of multiple filaments in air is larger in the squeezed beam. Shot-to-shot stability of the simulated plasma density increases in the squeezed beam. The change of this plasma density with propagation distance is in good qualitative agreement with the change of the range-corrected nitrogen fluorescence signal with distance. Syntheses of 5‐alkylthio‐1,3‐diaryl‐1,2,4‐triazoles

Arylation of the readily available 3‐alkythio‐5‐aryl‐1,2,4‐triazoles gave 5‐alkylthio‐1,3‐diaryl‐1,2,4‐triazoles in moderate yield. The structures of the latter were confirmed by NOE and ¹³C‐NMR.     

Synthesis and studies of antibacterial activity of pongaglabol

Pongaglabol [8-hydroxy-5-phenyl-furo[2,3-h]benzo(b)pyran-7-one] was synthesized and tested for antibacterial effects againstShigella dysenteriae, Salmonella typhi, Streptococcus β-haemolyticus andStaphylococcus aureus. The synthesized compounds were characterized using UV, IR and¹H NMR spectral data     

Fabrication and Determination of Refractive Index Profile of the Planar Waveguides by Wedge Technique

Several planar waveguides have been fabricated. The waveguides have been polished for determination of their refractiveindex profiles (RIP) by wedge method. The RIP determined by inserting the sample in a Mach-Zehnder interferometer andapplying fringe analysis methods.     

Heterocycles from carbohydrate precursors. Part XIX. The X-ray crystal structure determination of the reaction product of 4-(2-acetoxyethylidene)-4-hydroxy-2,3-dioxobutyro-1,4-lactone-2-(p-bromophenylhydrazone) with methylhydrazine

X-ray crystallographic data show that the product obtained in the reaction of 4-(2-acetoxy-ethylidene)-4-hydroxy-2,3-dioxobutyro-1,4-lactone-2-(p-bromophenylhydrazone) with methyl-hydrazine is the bicyclic compound 2,6-dimethyl-3,4-dioxo-2,3,4,6,7,8-hexahydropyridazino-[4,3-c]pyridazine 4-(p-bromophenylhydrazone) ( 10 ) and not as originally suggested 1-methyl-3-(1-methylpyrazolin-3-yl)-4,5-pyrazoledione 4-(p-bromophenylhydrazone) ( 8 ).
