Excited state intramolecular hydrogen atom transfer of phenylethynyl-substituted 2′-hydroxychalcones

(E)-1-[2-Hydroxy-4-(phenylethynyl)phenyl]-3-[4-(phenylethynyl)phenyl]prop-2-en-1-one (1), (E)-1-[2-hydroxy-4-(phenylethynyl)phenyl]-3-phenylprop-2-en-1-one (2), and (E)-1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-3-[4-(phenylethynyl)phenyl]prop-2-en-1-one (3), which belong to a new class of 2′-hydroxychalcones with phenylethynyl group(s) at the para position of the phenyl ring, were synthesized, and their photochemical properties were investigated. The lowest energy absorption band of 1 peaks at a longer wavelength (383 nm) with a much larger molar extinction coefficient (5.0 × 104 M ?1 cm?1) than that of the parent 2′-hydroxychalcone (2′HC) (2.0 × 104 M ?1 cm?1 at 318 nm). Upon photoexcitation, all three compounds underwent excited-state intramolecular hydrogen atom transfer (ESIHT) to produce an excited tautomer that emitted fluorescence with a large Stokes shift in the longer wavelength region at 600–700 nm. The quantum yield of the tautomer fluorescence of 1 was not high at 298 K (Φ f = 9.1 × 10?5), but was highest among 2′HC and its analogues. We determined photodynamic therapy (PDT) efficacy using a flash wave (FW) and a continuous wave (CW) light, of which the fluence rate was 70 W/cm2, for murine thymic lymphoma cells (EL-4) cultivated in vitro. The irradiation frequency and the pulse width of the FW light were in the range of 1–32 Hz and less than one millisecond, respectively. 5-Aminolevulinic acid-induced protoporphyrin IX (ALA-PpIX) was used as a photosensitizer. When EL-4 with ALA administration was irradiated by the light for 4 h (irradiation fluence: 1.0J/cm2), the survival rate of EL-4 by the FW light was lower than that by the CW light, except for the FW light with irradiation frequency of 32 Hz, and decreased gradually with decreasing irradiation frequency. Moreover, the FW light, especially at lower irradiation frequency, was superior to the CW light for the generation of singlet oxygen in an aqueous PpIX solution. Therefore, thehigher PDT efficacy for EL-4 of the FW light would be caused by the greater generation of singlet oxygen in the cells. 相似文献

This study examined the effect of presumed mismatches between speech input and the phonological representations of English words by native speakers of English (NE) and Spanish (NS). The English test words, which were produced by a NE speaker and a NS speaker, varied orthogonally in lexical frequency and neighborhood density and were presented to NE listeners and to NS listeners who differed in English pronunciation proficiency. It was hypothesized that mismatches between phonological representations and speech input would impair word recognition, especially for items from dense lexical neighborhoods which are phonologically similar to many other words and require finer sound discrimination. Further, it was assumed that L2 phonological representations would change with L2 proficiency. The results showed the expected mismatch effect only for words from dense neighborhoods. For Spanish-accented stimuli, the NS groups recognized more words from dense neighborhoods than the NE group did. For native-produced stimuli, the low-proficiency NS group recognized fewer words than the other two groups. The-high proficiency NS participants' performance was as good as the NE group's for words from sparse neighborhoods, but not for words from dense neighborhoods. The highly efficient selective monohydrolysis of symmetric diesters has been applied to monohydrolysis of several dialkyl malonates and their derivatives. The best conditions apply 0.8-1.2 equiv of aqueous KOH with a co-solvent, THF or acetonitrile, at 0 °C. The procedure is highly practical, yielding the corresponding half-esters in high yields in a straightforward manner, without inducing decarboxylation. The solute diffusive permeability in a thin layer of a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) is affected by specific binding of the MIP with a template. This phenomenon, termed the "gate effect," would be widely applicable for the development of novel biomimetic sensors. However, the mechanism underlying the gate effect is not totally understood. We present here investigation of the role of specific adsorption of a template and solution content in MIPs on the gate effect. A molecularly imprinted self-supporting membrane was formed by copolymerization of methacrylic acid, 2-vinylpyridine, and triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate in the presence of L- (or D-) phenylalanine as a template. The template adsorbed by membrane with degree of enantio-selectivity in a mixed solvent of methanol and water. The amount of adsorption and binding selectivity showed little sensitivity to the solvent composition. The solution content in the membrane increased with increasing the methanol concentration of the solvent following a sigmoid curve with an inflection point at methanol concentration of 20 wt.%. The content increased in the presence of the template at methanol concentrations higher than the inflection point, and decreased at lower methanol concentrations. The creatinine permeability across the membrane estimated by batchwise dialysis increased in the presence of the template at 50 wt.% methanol in the solvent, and did not change at 20 wt.%. There was no permeability for creatinine in the pure water solvent. Both the solution content and the permeability were not affected by the presence of the enantiomer of the template. The results show that the choice of solvent controls more strongly the nature of the gate effect than the specific binding of the template. 相似文献

A high-power CW 27.972 m water vapor laser has been constructed in order to use as a light source of an interferometer for plasma diagnostics. The laser consists of 220 cm length and 2.0 cm small bore Pyrex glass discharge tube, semi-confocal resonator and Michelson coupler. From the measurement of cavity detuning curves, it is found that two waveguide modes, EH11 and EH21 oscillate. The increase of the output power is found to become more than seven times larger by adding He(50%)–H2(50%) mixed gas. Under the optimum condition, the maximum output power of 65 mW or the output power per unit cavity volume of 83 W/cm3 is obtained. 相似文献

The liquid-liquid extraction of copper(I) with 12-, 13-, 15- and 16-membered cyclic tetrathio ethers ([n]aneS4, where n represents the total number of carbon and sulphur atoms in the cyclic ligand ring) was examined stoichiometrically using picrate ion (Pic?) for the formation of the ion pair. Copper(I) was extracted with four ligands (L) into 1,2-dichloroethane as the ion-pair compound, [Cu(I)L]+Pic?. The extraction constant, Kex, with each ligand was determined. As the ring size of cyclic tetrathio ethers increases, the log Kex values, including that previously reported for [14]aneS4, increase from 7.7 to 9.4. The value of Δ log Kex, which represents the increase in log Kex due to the addition of one carbon atom to the macrocyclic ring, was large between [13]aneS4 and [14]aneS4 (Δ log Kex=1.0) and small between [14]aneS4 and [15]aneS4 (Δ log Kex=0.1). 相似文献
