Nickel oxide nanoparticles catalyzed synthesis of poly-substituted quinolines via Friedlander hetero-annulation reaction

Reusable acidic nickel oxide nanoparticles have been synthesized,characterized and applied as a catalyst to convert 2-aminoaryl ketones and β-ketoesters/ketones into the corresponding quinolines in good yields with high selectivity.This could serve as a simple and convenient procedure for the Friedlander annulations.     

Reductive removal of methoxyacetyl protective group using sodium borohydride

Herein, we have developed a mild and selective reductive deprotection method for the MAc protected alcohols using sodium borohydride. The new deprotection conditions provide a complete orthogonality between O-MAc and other protecting groups such as tert-butyl ester, N-Boc, Fmoc, Cbz, O-TBDMS, N-benzyl, O-benzyl, O-acetyl, N-acetyl, N-MAc, etc. In addition to O-MAc deprotection, this method is also applicable for S-MAc deprotection.     

Regioselective synthesis of novel 2-chloroquinoline derivatives of 1,4-dihydropyridines

Highly regioselective reaction of some substituted 2,4-dichloroquinolines with symmetrical 1,4-dihydropyridines, leading to novel quinoline derivatives of DHPs, has been achieved in the presence of powdered K₂CO₃, as a mild and efficient base, at moderate temperature. All the synthesized compounds were characterized by use of IR, NMR, and mass spectral data.

Tracing of ethyl 2-acetyl-3-(arylamino)butanoate intermediates (β-amino ketones) and their structural confinement

Tracing of ethyl 2-acetyl-3-(phenylamino)butanoate intermediates (β-amino ketones) was performed during the course of N-arylpiperidone synthesis by reaction of aromatic amines, acetaldehyde, and ethyl acetoacetate. The structural confinement and stereochemistry of these molecules were explained by use of 2D NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography.
