Summary Methylbenzenes, pyridines and pyrazines were investigated on fused-silica and glass capillary columns coated with SE-30 and PEG-40M/KF liquid phases, at two temperatures, 80° and 110°C. The contribution of the methylene groups to the partial molar free sorption energy was determined for methylpyridines and pyrazines. Equations are proposed for the calculation of the retention indices of methyl pyridines and pyrazines. These equations are based on the ortho- and α-effects of the methyl groups. The predicted indices have been experimentally tested for six dimethyl- and trimethylpyridines, and four methylpyrazines. Good accuracy of the calculation permits to use this method for the identification of methylpyridines and pyrazines in complex mixtures. Infrared spectroscopic characteristics and gas chromatographic retention indices of tri- and tetramethylcyclohexenyl butenyl ketones were determined at different temperatures of analysis. Thermodynamic characteristics of sorption on the apolar stationary phase were calculated. The sorption characteristics of tri- and tetramethylcyclohexenyl butenyl ketones show that under conditions of capillary gas chromatography these compounds are retained due to the dispersive energy. It was shown by FTIR spectroscopy that the formation of conjugation systems of double bonds is responsible for the higher retention of the -isomers compared with that of the -isomers. The shortening of the distance between the carbonyl and trimethylcyclohexenyl groups was found to be accompanied by a decrease in the retention of the isomeric compounds.  相似文献

The values of the gas-chromatographic indicator reflecting the capacity of analytes for self-association in pure liquids, δT b.p., were estimated for C1–C9 and C11 n-alkanols by capillary gas chromatography on a nonpolar stationary phase under isothermal conditions. The δT b.p. values ofn-alkanols, found as the difference between the boiling points measured directly and those calculated from GC data, are correlated with thermodynamic characteristics of the formation ofn-alkanol associates in pure liquids. Usingn-alkanols as analytes with insignificant temperature increments of the retention indices, it was shown that the δT b.p. values can be determined under conditions used in gas chromatography with temperature programming. In this way a single chromatographic run can be used to compare the capacities for self-association of analytes boiling over a wide temperature range. The C2–C9 n-alkanethiols, which are not associated in neat liquids, have negative δT b.p. values. An interpretation of this finding is proposed.
