An asymptotic theory is presented for the determination of velocity and linear stability of a steady symmetric bubble in a Hele-Shaw cell for small surface tension. In the first part, the bubble velocity U relative to the fluid velocity at infinity is determined for small surface tension T by determining a transcendentally small correction to the asymptotic series solution. It is found that for any relative bubble velocity U in the interval (U c , 2), solutions exist at a countably infinite set of values of T (which has zero as its limit point) corresponding to the different branches of bubble solutions. The value of U c decreases monotonically from 2 to 1 as the bubble area increases from 0 to . However, for a bubble of an arbitrarily given size, as T 0, a solution exists on any given branch with the relative bubble velocity U satisfying the relation 2–U=cT 2/3, where c depends on the branch but is independent of the bubble area. The analytical evidence further suggests that there are no solutions for U>2. These results are in agreement with earlier analytical results for a finger.In Part II an analytic theory is presented for the determination of the linear stability of the bubble in the limit of zero surface tension. Only the solution branch corresponding to the largest possible U for given surface tension is found to be stable, while all the others are unstable, in accordance with earlier numerical results.This research has been supported by National Science Foundation Grant DMS-8713246. Cancer is the second most fatal disease worldwide, with colon cancer being the third most prevalent and fatal form of cancer in several Western countries. The risk of acquisition of resistance to chemotherapy remains a significant hurdle in the management of various types of cancer, especially colon cancer. Therefore, it is essential to develop alternative treatment modalities. Naturally occurring alkaloids have been shown to regulate various mechanistic pathways linked to cell proliferation, cell cycle, and metastasis. This review aims to shed light on the potential of alkaloids as anti-colon-cancer chemotherapy agents that can modulate or arrest the cell cycle. Preclinical investigated alkaloids have shown anti-colon cancer activities and inhibition of cancer cell proliferation via cell cycle arrest at different stages, suggesting that alkaloids may have the potential to act as anticancer molecules.  相似文献

The field of therapeutic nuclear medicine is emerging rapidly as choice of treatment in oncology and other cellular malignancies. The growth of this branch of nuclear medicine is greatly facilitated by the introduction of a number of new radiopharmaceuticals and radionuclides. 90Y-radiopharmaceuticals have confirmed their worth in medical and clinical areas in a very short span of time. The 90Y is a radioisotope widely used for therapeutic purposes and considerable perfection has been made to understand the chemistry of 90Y-labeled radiopharmaceuticals. The development of these radiopharmaceuticals can be made favorable by using appropriate buffer, incubation period, optimal pH, specific activity and reaction temperature. In this review, we have discussed the preparation of range of 90Y transporting biological molecules such as antibodies radiolabeled peptides, antigens and microsphere with their clinical applications.  相似文献

A novel, exceptionally stable titanium superoxide radical ion was prepared and its structure determined by FTIR, ESR, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric/differential thermal analysis and elemental analysis. This heterogeneous catalyst has been found to be effective for the selective oxidation of aromatic amines and phenols to the corresponding nitro aromatics and p-quinones, respectively. In addition, this non-toxic, inexpensive and reusable catalyst has also been used in aminobromination of olefins, which proceed to give the 1, 2-bromoaminated anti-Markovnikov product. A series of N,N',N'-trisubstituted guanidines (1-6) and their copper(II) complexes, [κ(2)(O,N)-C(6)H(5)CONHC(NHC(6)H(4)Cl)NR](2)Cu(ii) (R = iso-propyl (1a), n-butyl (2a), sec-butyl (3a), tert-butyl (4a), benzyl (5a), and para-tolyl (6a)) were synthesized and characterized using elemental analysis, FTIR and NMR spectroscopy. DFT studies were used to assess the location of the protons in the free ligands. However, calculations have shown that, in all cases, hydrogen bonding from either N-H group gives conformations that are very similar in energy. Single crystal XRD studies were used to characterize ligands 1 and 4 and the related complexes 1a and 4a. The structures reveal that these complexes are mononuclear in the solid state and that copper adopts a regular square planar geometry. In both metallic species, the N, N', N'-trisubstituted guanidine ligands chelate the Cu(II) atom using the oxygen and one nitrogen. The synthesized compounds were investigated for urease inhibition using thiourea as a standard drug. Most complexes exhibit a better activity than the respective guanidines and compound 1a was found to be the most active with IC(50) = 9.83 ± 0.07 μM (the IC(50) for thiourea is 21.0 ± 0.1 μM). The species were also screened for their anti-leishmanial activity. However, all of the compounds were devoid of any significant activity.  相似文献

NaIO4 oxidizes lithium bromide efficiently under acidic conditions to functionalize alkylbenzenes and alkanes and produce the corresponding bromo and acetoxy derivatives in excellent yields.
