The interactions between oppositely charged surfactant/polymer mixtures have been studied using conductivity and turbidity measurements. The dependence of aggregation phenomenon on the chain length and head group modifications of conventional cationic surfactants, i.e., hexadecyl- (HTAB), tetradecyl- (TTAB), and dodecyltrimethylammonium bromides (DTAB) and dimeric cationic surfactants, i.e., decyl- (DeDGB) and dodecyldimethylgemini bromides (DDGB), is investigated. It was observed that cationic surfactants induce cooperative binding with anionic polyelectrolytes at critical aggregation concentration (cac). The cac values are considerably lower than the critical micelle concentration (cmc) values for the same surfactant. After the complete complexation, free micelles are formed at the apparent critical micelle concentration (acmc), which is slightly higher in aqueous polyelectrolyte than in pure water. Among the conventional and dimeric cationic surfactants, DTAB and DeDGB, respectively, have been found to have least interactions with oppositely charged polyelectrolytes.  相似文献

The mixed micellar properties of a triblock copolymer, Pluronic L64, (EO)13(PO)30(EO)13, and a nonionic surfactant, Triton X-100, in aqueous solution with conventional alkyl ammonium bromides and their dimeric homologues were investigated with the help of fluorescence and cloud point measurements. The composition of mixed micelles and the interaction parameter, beta, evaluated from the critical micelle concentration (cmc) data for different mixtures using Rubingh's and Motomura's theories are discussed. It has been observed that the mixed micelle formation between monomeric/dimeric alkyl ammonium bromides and L64 was due to synergistic interactions which increase with the increase in hydrophobicity of the cationic component. On the other hand, synergistic mixing was observed in the mixed micelles of Triton X-100 and monomeric cationic surfactants, the magnitude of which decreases slightly with the increase in hydrophobicity of the cationic component. Antagonistic interactions were observed in the case of Triton X-100 and dimeric cationic surfactants.  相似文献

The novel bis‐condensed heterocyclic systems with ring assemblies based on peripheral barbituric acid rings and central pyran, pyridine and thiine rings have been generated by the reaction of terephthalaldehyde and isophthalaldehyde with barbituric acid for comparison with the analogous systems generated with said dialdehydes and 1,3‐cyclohexanedione.  相似文献

The interactions of conventional cationic, i.e. dodecyl-(DTAB), tetradecyl-(TTAB), and hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromides (HTAB), and dimeric cationic surfactants, i.e. dimethylene bis decyl-(10-2-10), and dodecyldimethylammonium bromides (12-2-12) with anionic polyelectrolytes, were studied by fluorescence measurements. The variation of I1/I3 ratio of the fluorescence of pyrene in aqueous solutions of polyelectrolytes was measured as a function of surfactant concentration. A three-step aggregation process involving the critical aggregation concentration (cac) and critical micelle concentration (cmc) was observed in each case. The cationic surfactants with lower hydrophobicity demonstrated higher degree of binding and vice versa.  相似文献

This is the first report on the mixed micelles of binary triblock polymer (TBP) mixtures. The steady-state fluorescence and viscosity measurements have been carried out for the various binary combinations of TBP (i.e., P103 + F127/P84/L64/P104/P123) in pure water at 30 °C. All the TBP components selected for the study show clear micelle formation process. The pyrene fluorescence has been used to determine the critical micelle concentration. As micelle-forming TBP can also be termed as nonionic surfactants; therefore, their mixed micelle formation has been evaluated by applying the regular solution theory. It has been observed that this theory very well predicts the nature of mixed micelles. The P103 + F127/P84/L64 binary mixtures undergo mixed micelle formation due to the synergistic interactions while P103 + P104/P123 show antagonistic behavior. The results clearly show that the mixtures with greater number of poly(ethylene oxide) units undergo favorable mixing.  相似文献

Hall coefficient and d.c. conductivity measurements were made on p-type PbTe epitaxial films exposed to molecular hydrogen gas at high pressures (100–500 psi) in the temperature range (100–300K). It is found that hydrogen converts p-type films to n-type at a pressure of about 300 psi. The results are explained by assuming that the action of hydrogen is to provide donor electrons.  相似文献

This contribution aims at evaluating different synthesis procedures leading to zirconia‐based aerogels. A series of undoped and yttrium‐doped zirconia aerogels have been prepared via hydrolysis and condensation reaction of different alkoxy‐ and different inorganic salt‐based precursors followed by supercritical drying. Well‐established but deleterious zirconium n‐propoxide (TPOZ) or zirconium n‐butoxide (TBOZ) were used as metal precursors in combination with acids like nitric acid and acetic acid as auxiliary agent for the generation of non‐yttrium stabilized zirconia aerogels. Yttrium‐stabilized zirconia aerogels as well as pure zirconia aerogels were obtained by the salt route starting from ZrCl4 and crosslinking agents like propylene oxide or acetylacetone. The characteristics of the products were analyzed by nitrogen adsorption measurements, electron microscopy, and X‐ray scattering. It turned out that with respect to all relevant properties of the aerogels as well as the practicability of the synthesis procedures, approaches based on inexpensive non‐toxic salt precursors are the methods of choice. The salt‐based approaches allow not only for low‐cost, easy‐to‐handle synthesis procedures with realizable gelation times of less than 60 seconds, but also delivered the products with the highest surface area (449 m2 g?1 for ZrCl4) within this series of syntheses.  相似文献
