Structural characterization and in vivo evaluation of retinyl palmitate in non-ionic lamellar liquid crystalline system

Carrier systems for lipophilic drugs, such as the liquid crystalline systems (LCS) have been extensively studied to improve effect and selectivity. Retinyl palmitate (RP) is widely used in pharmaceutical and cosmetics products to improve the skin elasticity. The aim of this study was the development, characterization and the in vivo effectiveness of RP in non-ionic LCS structures. LCS containing polyether functional siloxane as oil phase, silicon glycol copolymer as surfactant and water in the ratio 30:10:60, with and without RP were studied. The results of the polarized light microscopy, small-angle X-ray scattering and rheology analysis indicated the presence of typical LCS structures with lamellar arrangement. Regardless of the presence of RP, the rheological studies showed the pseudo plastic behavior of the systems. However, highest hysteresis area was verified when comparing the system in the presence and in the absence of RP. Stability study SAXS monitored, carried out up to 30 days in various storage temperature conditions (25±2 °C, 37±2 °C and 5±2 °C) demonstrated the great structural stability of the LCS systems. The in vivo effectiveness analysis suggests that the RP-loaded LCS provided a significant reduction of the orbicular wrinkles in human volunteers (P=0.048).     

Simultaneous determination of the X-ray refractive index and the attenuation length from a single digitally registered radiograph of rectangular prisms

Prisms deflect and disperse X-rays due to refraction very similar to visible light. As X-rays are always attenuated while traversing material, the intensity distribution in the transmitted beam carries information about the prism transmission function. This study will show that sufficient information is contained in a single digitally registered radiograph from a rectangular prism, for deriving both the refractive index of the material and its attenuation length. The measured data can be prepared such that neither intensity fluctuations nor false light content in the incident beam will introduce systematic errors into the result. The strategy is thus very adapted, when single shot pictures are taken at X-ray sources with limited shot reproducibility. This technique is favourably be used at very grazing angles of incidence of the order of the critical angle for the prism material, when the beam deflection becomes significant. In such a geometry dimensional parameters, like sample thickness, do not affect the data analysis, which is particularly insensitive to even significant errors in the tip angle.     

Generalized Weighted Morrey Estimates for Marcinkiewicz Integrals with Rough Kernel Associated with Schrödinger Operator and Their Commutators

Let L =-?+V(x) be a Schr?dinger operator, where ? is the Laplacian on ■~n,while nonnegative potential V(x) belonging to the reverse H?lder class. The aim of this paper is to give generalized weighted Morrey estimates for the boundedness of Marcinkiewicz integrals with rough kernel associated with Schr?dinger operator and their commutators.Moreover, the boundedness of the commutator operators formed by BMO functions and Marcinkiewicz integrals with rough kernel associated with Schr?dinger operators is discussed on the generalized weighted Morrey spaces. As its special cases, the corresponding results of Marcinkiewicz integrals with rough kernel associated with Schr?dinger operator and their commutators have been deduced, respectively. Also, Marcinkiewicz integral operators, rough Hardy-Littlewood(H-L for short) maximal operators, Bochner-Riesz means and parametric Marcinkiewicz integral operators which satisfy the conditions of our main results can be considered as some examples.
