The photolytic release of substrates from caged substrates has proven to be an excellent method to generate concentration jumps for kinetic measurements in the microsecond time scale. In this report we use time-resolved FTIR in the step-scan mode to probe the photolysis mechanism of one such caged compound, namely gamma-(alpha-carboxy-2-nitrobenzyl)glutamate, and to obtain a direct measure of the rate of photorelease of the substrate glutamate. The time-resolved difference FTIR spectra exhibit specific signals that can be assigned to the reactant caged glutamate, photolytically released product glutamate, as well as to the aci-nitro intermediate, the key intermediate of the photolysis reaction. Therefore these signals allow the characterization of the kinetics of formation and decay of the intermediate and products. This is the first such report that provides a direct determination of the rate of formation of the photolysis product from a caged compound in the microsecond time scale. Furthermore, the results presented provide a good basis for further time-resolved FTIR studies of molecular reaction mechanisms, such as ligand protein interactions, in the microsecond time scale through the photolytic release of substrates from caged compounds.  相似文献

The dissolution behavior of carbon steel in ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) solution containing sodium thiosulfate (Na2S2O3) of various concentrations (0.01 and 0.1 M) was investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and other nonelectrochemical techniques. The weight loss and polarization measurements indicate a significant increase in the NH4Cl corrosion rate of carbon steel on addition of Na2S2O3. The EIS measurements exhibited two capacitive loops at multiple direct current (dc) potentials for both the concentrations. Electrical equivalent circuit (EEC) and reaction mechanism analysis (RMA) were employed to analyze the impedance data. A four-step mechanism with two intermediate adsorbate species of same charge was proposed to explain the dissolution behavior of carbon steel in the given system. The surface coverage values enumerated that the surface was entirely covered with adsorbed species unlike in the pure NH4Cl system. Charge transfer resistance and polarization resistance values estimated from RMA parameters indicate the increase in a dissolution rate with dc potential. The surface morphology was inspected via field emission scanning electron microscopy, and the corrosion products including surface state of carbon steel electrode were analyzed using energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.  相似文献

The influence of initial heat treatment on anomalous Cr precipitation within high temperature solubility region of the Fe–9Cr alloy has been investigated using positron lifetime studies. Air-quenched samples with pre-existing dislocations exhibited a distinct annealing stage in positron lifetime between 800 and 1100?K corresponding to Cr-precipitation. During this stage, Transmission Electron Microscopy showed fine precipitates of average size 4 nm, dispersed throughout the sample and from Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis they are found to be Cr-enriched. The presence of dislocations is found to be responsible for Cr precipitation.  相似文献

A family of five isostructural butterfly complexes with a tetranuclear [Ln4] core of the general formula [Ln4(LH)22‐η1η1Piv)(η2‐Piv)(μ3‐OH)2]?x H2O?y MeOH?z CHCl3 ( 1 : Ln=DyIII, x=2, y=2, z=0; 2 : Ln=TbIII, x=0, y=0, z=6; 3 : Ln=ErIII, x=2, y=2, z=0; 4 : Ln=HoIII, x=2, y=2, z=0; 5 : Ln=YbIII, x=2, y=2, z=0; LH4=6‐{[bis(2‐hydroxyethyl)amino]methyl}‐N′‐(2‐hydroxy‐3‐methoxybenzylidene)picolinohydrazide; PivH=pivalic acid) was isolated and characterized both structurally and magnetically. Complexes 1 – 5 were probed by direct and alternating current (dc and ac) magnetic susceptibility measurements and, except for 1 , they did not display single‐molecule magnetism (SMM) behavior. The ac magnetic susceptibility measurements show frequency‐dependent out‐of‐phase signals with one relaxation process for complex 1 and the estimated effective energy barrier for the relaxation process was found to be 49 K. We have carried out extensive ab initio (CASSCF+RASSI‐SO+SINGLE_ANISO+POLY_ANISO) calculations on all the five complexes to gain deeper insights into the nature of magnetic anisotropy and the presence and absence of slow relaxation in these complexes. Our calculations yield three different exchange coupling for these Ln4 complexes and all the extracted J values are found to be weakly ferro/antiferromagentic in nature (J1=+2.35, J2=?0.58, and J3=?0.29 cm?1 for 1 ; J1=+0.45, J2=?0.68, and J3=?0.29 cm?1 for 2 ; J1=+0.03, J2=?0.98, and J3=?0.19 cm?1 for 3 ; J1=+4.15, J2=?0.23, and J3=?0.54 cm?1 for 4 and J1=+0.15, J2=?0.28, and J3=?1.18 cm?1 for 5 ). Our calculations reveal the presence of very large mixed toroidal moment in complex 1 and this is essentially due to the specific exchange topology present in this cluster. Our calculations also suggest presence of single‐molecule toroics (SMTs) in complex 2 . For complexes 3 – 5 on the other hand, the transverse anisotropy was computed to be large, leading to the absence of slow relaxation of magnetization. As the magnetic field produced by SMTs decays faster than the normal spin moments, the concept of SMTs can be exploited to build qubits in which less interference and dense packing are possible. Our systematic study on these series of Ln4 complexes suggest how the ligand design can help to bring forth such SMT characteristics in lanthanide complexes.  相似文献

Abstract

Polymerizations of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and acrylonitrile (AN) were carried out in aqueous nitric acid at 30°C with the redox initiator system ammonium ceric nitrate-ethyl cellosolve (EC). A short induction period was observed as well as the attainment of a limiting conversion for polymerization reactions. The consumption of ceric ion was first order with respect to Ce(IV) concentration in the concentration range (0.2–0.4) × 10?2 M, and the points at higher and lower concentrations show deviations from a linear fit. The plots of the inverse of pseudo-first-order rate constant for ceric ion consumption, (k 1)?1 vs [EC]?1, gave straight lines for both the monomer systems with nonzero intercepts supporting complex formation between Ce(IV) and EC. The rate of polymerization increases regularly with [Ce(IV)] up to 0.003 M, yielding an order of 0.41, then falls to 0.0055 M and again shows a rise at 0.00645 M for MMA polymerization. For AN polymerization, R p shows a steep rise with [Ce(IV)] up to 0.001 M, and beyond this concentration R p shows a regular increase with [Ce(IV)], yielding an order of 0.48. In the presence of constant [NO? 3], MMA and AN polymerizations yield orders of 0.36 and 0.58 for [Ce(IV)] variation, respectively. The rates of polymerization increased with an increase in EC and monomer concentrations: only at a higher concentration of EC (0.5 M) was a steep fall in R p observed for both monomer systems. The orders with respect to EC and monomer for MMA polymerization were 0.19 and 1.6, respectively. The orders with respect to EC and monomer for AN polymerization were 0.2 and 1.5, respectively. A kinetic scheme involving oxidation of EC by Ce(IV) via complex formation, whose decomposition gives rise to a primary radical, initiation, propagation, and termination of the polymeric radicals by biomolecular interaction is proposed. An oxidative termination of primary radicals by Ce(IV) is also included.  相似文献

The new diimine fluorescent ligand ACRI‐1 based on a central acridine yellow core is reported along with its coordination complex [Co2( ACRI‐1 )2] ( 1 ), a fluorescent weak ferromagnet. Due to the strong fluorescence of the acridine yellow fluorophore, it is not completely quenched when the ligand is coordinated to CoII. The magnetic properties of bulk complex 1 and its stability in solution have been studied. Complex 1 has been deposited on highly ordered pyrolitic graphite (HOGP) from solution. The thin films prepared have been characterized by AFM, time‐of‐flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF‐SIMS), grazing incidence X‐ray diffraction (GIXRD), X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), X‐ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) and theoretical calculations. The data show that the complex is robust and remains intact on the surface of graphite.  相似文献
