Helicenes are carbon-rich materials with an ordered structure that possess interesting and remarkable electronic, chiroptical, mechanical and magnetic properties either in bulk or as single molecule devices. We report on the first attempt to anchor and organize [11]anthrahelicene ([11]AH) molecules onto a metal oxide surface. Molecular structures obtained on the (110) and (011) faces of rutile titania are characterized using scanning probe microscopy. On the (110) surface, [11]AH molecules form islands that are comprised of small domains of two types that are mirror reflections of each other and have an ordered quasi-hexagonal lattice. In contrast, molecules form unordered clusters on the (011) surface. Single molecules on both faces are imaged with sub-molecular resolution.  相似文献

An integral equation formulation for buoyancy-driven convection problems is developed and illustrated. Buoyancy-driven convection in a bounded cylindrical geometry with a free surface is studied for a range of aspect ratios and Nusselt numbers. The critical Rayleigh number, the nature of the cellular motion, and the heat transfer enhancement are computed using linear theory. Green's functions are used to convert the linear problem into linear Fredholm integral equations. Theorems are proved which establish the properties of the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the linear integral operator which appears in these equations.  相似文献

This paper reports a new flow-through fluoroimmunosensor, the function of which is based on antibodies immobilized on an inmunoreactor of controlled-pore glass (CPG), for determination of digoxin, used in the treatment of congestive heart failure and artery disease. The immunosensor has a detection limit of 1.20 microg L(-1) and provides high reproducibility (RSD=4.5% for a concentration of 0.0025 mg L(-1), and RSD=6.7% for 0.01 mg L(-1)). The optimum working concentration range was found to be 1.2 x 10(-3)-4.0 x 10(-2) mg L(-1). The lifetime of the immunosensor was about 50 immunoassays; if stored unused its lifetime can be extended to three months. A sample speed of about 10-12 samples per hour can be attained. Possible interference from substances with structures similar to digoxin (morphine, heroin, tebaine, codeine, pentazocine and narcotine) was investigated. No cross-reactivity was seen at the highest digoxin: interferent ratio studied (1:100). The proposed fluoroimmunosensor was successfully used to determine digoxin concentrations in human serum samples.  相似文献

Quantum calculations of a (1+1)-dimensional model for double ionization in strong laser fields are used to trace the time evolution from the ground state through ionization and rescattering to the two-electron escape. The subspace of symmetric escape, a prime characteristic of nonsequential double ionization, remains accessible by a judicious choice of 1D coordinates for the electrons. The time-resolved ionization fluxes show the onset of single and double ionization, the sequence of events during the pulse, and the influences of pulse duration and reveal the relative importance of sequential and nonsequential double ionization, even when ionization takes place during the same field cycle.  相似文献

The major characteristics of cancer metastasis is the ability of the primary tumor cells to migrate by way of the blood or lymph vessels and to form tumors at multiple, distant sites. There are evidences that cancer progression is characterized by disruption and/or reorganization of cytoskeleton (i.e. cellular scaffold). This is accompanied by various molecular alterations influencing the overall mechanical resistance of cells. Current approach in diagnosis focuses mainly on microbiological, immunological, and pathological aspects rather than on the biomechanics of diseases. The determination of mechanical properties of an individual living cell has became possible with the development of local measurement techniques, such as atomic force microscopy, magnetic or optical tweezers. The advantage of them lies in the capability to measure living cells at a single cell level and in liquid conditions, close to natural environment. Here, we present the studies on mechanical properties of single cells originating from various cancers. The results show that, independently of the cancer type (bladder, melanoma, prostate, breast and colon), single cells are characterized by the lower Young's modulus, denoting higher deformability of cancerous cells. However, the obtained Young's modulus values were dependent on various factors, like the properties of substrates used for cell growth, force loading rate, or indentation depth. Their influence on elastic properties of cells was considered. Based on these findings, the identification of cancerous cells based on their elastic properties was performed. These results proved the AFM capability in recognition of a single, mechanically altered cell, also in cases when morphological changes are not visible. The quantitative analysis of cell deformability carried out using normal (reference) and cancerous cells and, more precisely, their characterization (qualitative and quantitative) can have a significant impact on the development of methodological approaches toward precise identification of pathological cells and would allow for more effective detection of cancer-related changes.  相似文献

High resolution scanning tunneling microscopy has been applied to investigate adsorption and self-assembly of large organic molecules on the TiO(2)(011) surface. The (011) face of the rutile titania has been rarely examined in this context. With respect to possible industrial applications of rutile, quite often in a powder form, knowledge on behavior of organic molecules on that face is required. In the presented study we fill in the gap and report on experiments focused on the self-assembly of organic nanostructures on the TiO(2)(011) surface. We use three different kinds of organic molecules of potential interest in various applications, namely, PTCDA and CuPc representing flat, planar stacking species, and Violet Landers specially designed for new applications in molecular electronics. In order to reach a complete picture of molecular behavior, extended studies with different surface coverage ranging from single molecule up to 2 monolayer (ML) thick films are performed. Our results show that the adsorption behavior is significantly different from previously observed for widely used metallic templates. Creation of highly ordered molecular lines, quasi-ordered wetting layers, controlled geometrical reorientation upon thermal treatment, existence of specific adsorption geometries, and prospects for tip-induced molecule ordering and manipulation provide better understanding and add new phenomena to the knowledge on the (011) face of rutile titania.  相似文献
