We report on experiments that evaluate the potential of terahertz (THz) time-domain spectroscopy (TDS) for quality control of polymeric compounds. We investigate specimens out of a polyethylene compound with silver-coated titanium dioxide nanospheres and a glass-fiber reinforced epoxy composite. We further examine an industrial polymer product produced by injection molding. Our data demonstrates that THz imaging is a powerful tool for contactless quality control in the polymer industry.  相似文献

Transverse flow transversely excited (TFTE) CO2 lasers are easily scalable to multikilowatt level. The laser power can be scaled up by increasing the volumetric gas flow and discharge volume. It was observed in a TFTE CW CO2 laser having single row of pins as an anode and tubular cathode that the laser power was not increasing when the discharge volume and the gas volumetric flow were increased by increasing the electrode separation keeping the gas flow velocity constant. The discharge voltage too remained almost constant with the change of electrode separation at the same gas flow velocity. This necessitated revision of the scaling laws for designing this type of high power CO2 laser. Experimental results of laser performance for different electrode separations are discussed and the modifications in the scaling laws are presented.  相似文献

We present the implementation and demonstration of the Chebyshev pseudo-spectral method coupled with an adaptive mesh method for performing fast and highly accurate electrophoresis simulations. The Chebyshev pseudo-spectral method offers higher numerical accuracy than all other finite difference methods and is applicable for simulating all electrophoresis techniques in channels with open or closed boundaries. To improve the computational efficiency, we use a novel moving mesh scheme that clusters the grid points in the regions with poor numerical resolution. We demonstrate the application of the Chebyshev pseudo-spectral method on a moving mesh for simulating nonlinear electrophoretic processes through examples of isotachophoresis (ITP), isoelectric focusing (IEF), and electromigration-dispersion in capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) at current densities as high as 1000 A/m. We also show the efficacy of our moving mesh method over existing methods that cluster the grid points in the regions with large concentration gradients. We have integrated the adaptive Chebyshev pseudo-spectral method in the open-source SPYCE simulator and verified its implementation with other electrophoresis simulators.  相似文献

A solvent tolerant Pseudomonas aeruginosa PseA strain was isolated from soil. It secreted a novel alkaline protease, which was stable and active in the presence of range of organic solvents, thus potentially useful for catalysis in non-aqueous media. The protease was purified 11.6-fold with 60% recovery by combination of ion exchange and hydrophobic interaction chromatography using Q-Sepharose and Phenyl Sepharose 6 Fast Flow matrix, respectively. The apparent molecular mass based on the sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) was estimated to be 35,000 Da. The enzyme was stable in the pH range of 6.0-9.0, the optimum being 8.0. The Km and Vmax towards caseinolytic activity were found to be 2.7 mg/ml and 3 micromol/min, respectively. The protease was most active at 60 degrees C and characterized as a metalloprotease because of its sensitivity to EDTA and 1,10-phenanthroline. It was tested positive for elastase activity towards elastin-orcein, thus appears to be an elastase, which is known as pseudolysin in other strains of P. aeruginosa. The protease withstands range of detergents, surfactants and solvents. It is stable and active in all the solvents having log P above 3.2, at least up to 72 h. These two properties make it an ideal choice for applications in detergent formulations and enzymatic peptide synthesis.  相似文献

Mechanoluminescence (ML) and thermoluminescence (TL) in barium zirconium titanate (BZT) is reported for the first time. The BZT powder sample, belonging to perovskite category is synthesized using solid state reaction technique. The sample is prepared at a temperature of 1200 °C. The obtained specimen is thoroughly characterized paying particular attention to their structure, composition, morphology and optical properties. The surface morphology and structural properties are analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). XRD patterns confirm the formation of crystalline perovskite type cubic structure. Also, highly agglomerated, porous and regular shaped particles are seen by SEM. The optical properties of as prepared sample is presented and discussed in terms of ML and TL. The ML intensity is found to be maximum for the sample irradiated for 10 min. More than one maxima in TL glow curve reveals that the traps are distributed in separate groups at different depths and corresponding values are calculated using initial rise method.  相似文献

In this article, thermal degradation behavior of 1,3,5-triamino-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene (TATB)-based plastic-bonded explosives (PBXs) bonded with a different fluoropolymer matrices namely indigenous poly(vinylidene fluoride-chlorotrifluoroethylene) (FKM), FK 800, fluoroplastic F-32L and fluororubber SKF 32 was investigated through non-isothermal thermogravimetric analysis (TG) technique under nitrogen atmosphere. It was observed that the mass loss of PBXs containing FKM and FK 800 matrices occurred in three steps. The mass loss of PBXs containing fluoroplastic F-32L and fluororubber SKF 32 occurred in two steps. Kinetics were investigated through non-isothermal TG at different heating rates for the first step of degradation by means of model-free Flynn–Wall–Ozawa (FWO) and Kissinger–Akahira–Sunose (KAS) methods. The activation energies calculated by applying FWO method are in good agreement and very close to those obtained by KAS method. The results revealed that the effect of the polymer matrices on the thermal degradation reaction of TATB was significantly observed especially different outcomes of kinetic parameters. The reaction models for degradation were also studied by Criado method. The reaction models are probably best described by the power law and diffusion models.  相似文献
