Determination of Calcium,Magnesium, Iron,Copper, Zinc,and Phosphorus in Blood Serum by Arc Atomic Emission Spectrometry

The results of the elemental analysis of blood serum are often used for the diagnosis of different diseases associated with derangements of mineral metabolism. In this work, we studied the main sources of a systematic error in the atomic-emission spectrometric (AES) analysis of blood serum and developed a procedure for the AES determination of Ca, Cu, Fe, Mg, P, and Zn in the human blood serum. The repeatability relative standard deviations of determinations varied from 10 to 24%.     

Liquid-phase chlorination ofC-chlorovinylsilanes

Liquid-phase chlorination of a number of chloro(chlorovinyl)methylsilanes was investigated. A number of novelC-chlorosilanes were characterized by IR and¹H NMR spectra. 123 Phases in CeLa2Cu2MgO8 samples

A tetragonal 123 phase with the composition close to CeLa₂ { Cu ₂ ²⁺ } [Mg²⁺]O₈ (the braces indicate the Cu(2) positions; the brackets indicate the Cu(1) positions) with the parameters a = b = 0.3909(3) nm, c = 1.6591(8) nm was prepared at 860°C under an oxygen atmosphere with an elevated oxygen pressure. When the lanthanum-for-barium substitution was incomplete, the resulting 123 phase had the composition close to CeLa_1.7Ba_0.3{ Cu _1.7 ²⁺ } [Mg]O₈ with the unit cell parameters a = b = 0.3868(3) nm, c = 1.6578(8) nm that contains Cu³⁺ in the Cu(2) positions. The partial substitution of barium for lanthanum (the melting point of barium oxide is almost 500°C lower that of the lanthanum oxide) appreciably facilitated the synthesis: the 123 phase in this sample was more than 90%. The existence of Cu³⁺ in the Cu(2) positions enhanced the electrical conductivity of the sample.

Electronic structure and conformational flexibility of 1,4-dihydroazines and their 4-ylide derivatives

The conformational flexibility of 1,4-dihydropyridine, 1,4-dihydropyrimidine, 1,4-dihydropyridazine, 1,4-dihydro-1,3,5-triazine, and their 4-oxo, imino, and methylene derivatives was studied by the semiempirical quantum-chemical AM1 method. It was demonstrated that the replacement of the methylene group in the dihydroazine ring by the exocyclic double bond results only in an increase in the rigidity of the heterocycle rather than leading to a loss of its conformational flexibility. It was suggested that nonplanar conformations of rings in ylide derivatives are stabilized by the nonaromatic cyclic -system. Introduction of the exocyclic double bond does not cause a substantial change in the -electronic structure of the heterocycle. The aromaticity indicesI ₆ andI ₆() were calculated. The correlation between these indices and a change in the energy upon bending of the heterocycle was established.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Sorption of water vapor on cation-substituted vermiculite

Deformations of Na, Ca, and Ba vermiculites upon sorption of water vapor have been determined by a dilatometric method. Sequential stages in the hydration of interlayer exchange cations have been identified.
